"Anyone who had a Hart, would look....."

Hi chaps

I have 2 Aeroclub Hawker Demons in the stash and want to do a Hart and a Hind in 603 City of Edinburgh colours. I don't think that there are 1/48 Harts and Hinds in production or even available from the sellers who specialise in old models long OOP.

I have ordered a book on the Hart family from Amazon which will hopefully contain lots of info but has anyone attempted a conversion in the past and have any tips or advice on things to watch out for ?

Brian Redpath sent me a disc of pics from his visit to the Shuttleworth and the Hart photos are inspirational - thanks again Brian.

As usual any help/ guidance would be appreciated.

The basic differences are in the rear cockpit, which has the level gunner's ring rather than the reclined; in the exhausts, which are not extended; and the Demon has two forward firing guns. The Hart has a tailskid where many Demons had a tailwheel. There will be other differences depending upon the precise Hart you are making.

The Mushroom Monthly book is very good, strongly recommended, although there was an older book doing a walk-around of the Shuttleworth Hart.

The Hart family book and Mushroom book are both ideal for your projects. It would not be too difficult to convert the types.

I have a copy of SAMI with a great artical about the types I can dig out for you later this evening if you like.

Hope you put your builds on here they will look awesome!

Mark, I am doing Airfix's 1/72nd Demon over on the Airfix Tribute site as a group build model in the 4th anniversary GB. I am adding a lot of interior detail, using the plan profile in the Mushroom Hart Family book as a guide. But I really needed some good cockpit pictures to help in that area. I just went over to your Photobucket albums & found a veritable treasure of what I need. I have copied off each of the cockpit shots to use as a guide. I live in Westbrook, Maine in the US, so I do not get to see these thing up close & personal. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR TAKING & POSTING THE PICTURES. You very much have my gratitude. Lasermonkey, if you wuold like to see the use I have made of your cockpit shots of these planes please go over to the Airfix Tribute forum site & look up my Hawker Demon group build model in the 4th anniversary group build section. I have scratchbuilt the entire interior & used your cockpit shots for a lot of the 2 sections. I have a lot of pictures of my progress. I just closed up the fuselage today. I hope you will think I made good use of your pictures. THANKS FOR THE REFERAL. Carl T :speak_cool::partytime:

Thanks for posting the link, Carl! That's some nice work there. Can't wait to see it finished.

I'm really glad I could help. That was the whole point of those walkarounds, and it's rather heartwarming to know they've been put to good use.

Cheers,

Mark.
