junco
Awesome paintwork! Ironically I have the decals but not the kit!! Way better looking than the boring silver painted Gate Guardians outside Egyptian Airports! Only nice Camo one is in the Citadel in Cairo. Veltro
That's a really sweet build John Love the weathering too. Always had a bit of a soft spot for the Russian stuff.

John Giavasis
Thank you! For the painting, I used Mr. Color lacquer paints. No preshading was done. After spraying the basic colour, I lightened up using light grey or white or yellow (for the green) in 2 different proportions in order to obtain two shades of highlights. These were airbrushed in a random manner over the basic colour, using very thin lines with my Sotar 20/20 airbrush. The shadows were made by adding black to the basic colour or a dark shade of the basic colour (e.g. if I use a medium green for the basic colour, then for the shadows I add RLM70 or a dark japanese aircraft green) and airbrushed the shadows again using thin lines randomly but concentrated more on panel lines and recesses of the model. Last step was the classic wash (I use the Promodeller washes). In order to fade the decals, I used cmk pigments (dust).
