1/48 Rafale M

Recommended Posts

Hello Phil,

Stunning job, as usual, Phil;

on thing tough : Navy Rafale do have a very dull/flat finish and the roundel do have an overspray of grey to it, as you can see on this pic, coming from airliners.net

But again, nice model !

Cheers

Stef (#6)

Thanks Stef, I'll give it a coat of Gray later and it is very flat to the eye but not on film so to speak. Any Idea what colour the Apache missile is painted?

Hello Phil,

The Apache would be black in color ...

linky

However, the Navy Rafale are not wired to load the Apache. It is supposed to be carried by the Air Force Two seaters, in the penetration role. For now, Navy Rafales are up to th F2 Standard, fighter role only. There had been use of Navy Rafale in afghanistan, releasing laser guided bombs, but with a Mirage 2000 D doing the laser lighting. The dual bomb pylon was a scratch developpment.

There is normally a laser pod in developpement for the Navy rafale and hopefully it'll come with the F3 standard.

HTH

Cheers

Stef

Edit : a link for air force Rafale with bomb pylons air force rafale

Just jealous of the french , good food , good wine and totally un PC - and they just do there own thing irrelavnt of what he rest of the world think including making fantasic aircraft to meet the requirements of what they want - not what everyone else wants !!!!

I have to say, I think it's a great looking aircraft, very tactile and smooth ;)

"you talking about Nespresso, right ? Yeah, what else !?"

and, Sandy, you're right about the wine and food ... now, our policy toward the rest of the world, well ... seems that it depends on the current president's personality !

Marcel Dassault once said that to fly well, a plane had to be nice ...

I'm not sure if it was the right thing to get out out of the Eurofighter project, but one thing is sure : the Rafale is a pleasure of the eyes (and ears) when in flight demo.

So is Phil's Rafale

(no, with just a tad of grey on these roundel and a GREY Apache centerline, this would be perfect !!! ):smartass:

Superb!

What happened to the roundels? Did you just tone them down like Stephane said or did you remove them. I can't see them any longer or is it just the angle?

Are you going to some stronger weathering or leave her as a clean "ish" bird?

I did over do the toning down on the decals a bit but it's a tricky model to photo because of the smooth design of the aircraft.

That is the second SCALP that not used, the other one is on the centre line Hard point.

Hey Phil

Nice going on the Rafale :speak_cool: , interesting to see the differences between that and the Revell one which I'm doing at the moment.

The Revell one is a right PITA around the intakes, and features zilch in the way on intake trunking or blanking.

Other than that, it's one drop dead gorgeous looking aircraft! They must be making up for all the ugly pre-war aircraft they designed!

Cheers from NZ

Hi mike,

the in takes on the one isn't much better and the pin marks would have been better on the other side so they had to be filled. apart from that it saw a delightful build.

Phil mate amazing job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wash is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where can i get it???????????????

Also did you brush the future on?

Thanks, The wash is about a week away from being ready there some info HERE

I alway airbrush the future on neat, mist coat first then ten minutes later a heavy coat, then leave it over night before putting the wash on. HTH :)
