Phil @ Flory Models
HI guys and girls, well I thought there was a lack of Gray aircraft this week so I thought I'd do one. It's the Hobby Boss 1/48 Rafale M. It went together a dream with no filler and just a tiny bit of CA on the intake joins. I'm trying a new weather system and thought I'd share it with you. OK first pre shaded Then a few coats of light ghost grey cut with a little white A coat of future and the wash on The wash had a few drops of future in it to make it stick a bit (This is the first time I've tyred it, so If you do have a go don't blame me if it goes Pete Tong) Wash off and a coat of future on. Sprayed on Alclad Steel and Jet exhaust. You cant see the weathering much in these pics but I'm really happy with the way it's looking More to come Happy Modelling Edited September 19, 2007 by Phil_flory

Bobs_Buckles
Hello Phil, Is the wash/future mix designed to leave a greater spread of wash over the panels? Nice Job BTW Cheers Bob
hatchet
Looking good Phil One thing though, not to be a pedantic spoilsport or anything but, what about the chaff/flare dispensers? You can see them here and here next to the flaperons. Of course, if it's a prototype or early production machine, they're not there.
Phil @ Flory Models
Is the wash/future mix designed to leave a greater spread of wash over the panels? My thinking is to have the wash stick to the paint work thus giving the worn dirty look. To be honest it's worked better than I thought But it worked a little to well in a few places and needed to be sanded back to get it off. Looking good Phil One thing though, not to be a pedantic spoilsport or anything but, what about the chaff/flare dispensers? You can see them This is a out of the box job, I was looking at it though and it would be a simple job to do for the next one.

FireStreakDecals_EdG
Lovely work Phil. The washes look good (mine arrived last week. To be tried on my Hawk T.1A whenever that may be ) and I agree with everyone else, the whole weathering effect is very convincing. Are these the kit decals? Cheers, Ed

GrahamEM
I've never seen those sprayed on lines in the first pic before, as i'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to modelling i suspect you use a darker spray on the lines before adding the lighter aircraft colour ? Detail looks great
