Fifer54 Posted April 13, 2010 Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) I've finished the two kits I declared for this groupbuild, but I haven't had enough of my WW1 modelling fix! But I thought I'd have a go at something new (to me) by way of another model. I downloaded this: from a website that I've forgotten now, and I'm going to try a card model. I've made a start by cutting out the fuselage parts: And that's where we're up to! Edited June 25, 2010 by MadNurseGaz
crookedmouth Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 That looks like fun. Sure you can't remember where it came from? I bought a (1/144??) card zeppelin Hindenburg years ago (much to the annoyance of the wife), but I never finished it (to her relief)
Deon Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 good luck Gaz, i just downloaded a 1/300th scale card W29, noway Im doing lozenges for that!

Edit to correct a mis-spelling. Edited April 14, 2010 by MadNurseGaz
T-Tango Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 I'm expecting to be well entertained by this one, not done any card modelling sinceprimary school! Two yoghurt cartons, an egg box and sticky back plastic, guess what, you'll get a 'Blue Peter' badge.
seadog Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Good luck and have fun. Last card model I did was a Merlin - the bird - about a million years ago... F
Fifer54 Posted April 21, 2010 Author Posted April 21, 2010 Weeelll..... I need to start again with this one! It's been stuck to my fingers so many times with the cyano that it's ended up screwed up in the round hangar under the desk! But the best bit about card modelling is that I can simply print it off again and have another go without any expense! Might change to something with fewer wings, though........
Fifer54 Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 Decided I really was with the card models! I think I haven't enough patience for those. This GB's got 5 weeks to go, and it seems like ages since my builds finished, so I'll have a look in the stash..........
Fifer54 Posted June 25, 2010 Author Posted June 25, 2010 OK, chaps, here we are with five weeks to go to the Armistice, so I think I'll have a go with another model. I dug this: out of the stash,so wish me luck as I join the Dawn Patrol to do battle with the Fokker scourge! Looks like a decent little kit. It comes with decals for a machine flown by Ernst Udet on the Western Front in winter 1915-16.
seadog Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 OK, chaps, here we are with five weeks to go to the Armistice, so I think I'll have a go with another model. Best of luck..and enjoy the build! Fraser
Deacon Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Good choice mate. I made this kit a couple of years ago.. Enjoy. Deacon
Fifer54 Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 Good choice mate.I made this kit a couple of years ago.. Enjoy. Deacon That looks great, Deacon, lovely job! Very inspiring pic as well. What did you use for the main green colour? Is it mixed according to the kit instructions, or did you find an appropriate colour elsewhere?
Deacon Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Hell mate, it was two years ago! Just, painted the underside to get a match. The closest colour is Vallejo Model Colour Olive Green 967. I only used Vallejo back then so it was this one colour. Hope this helps. Deacon

Fifer54 Posted July 2, 2010 Author Posted July 2, 2010 Finally made a start on this. Did a little painting of parts on the sprue, then this afternoon I had a session of assembly and I've got to this: These little Revell WW1 fighters go together really well!
Fifer54 Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Well, in the dying minutes of this GB before the Amistice, here's where my final entry is up to: Partly decalled, awaiting assembly of final details, a matt coat, and the dreaded rigging.......... I'll post pictures when I do finish.....
ollieholmes Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 O so close. I look forward to seing this one done. Im very tempted to get one of these kits.
Fifer54 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Yes, failed miserably at the last hurdle! I'm afraid the Fokker scourge has got the better of me. The model just awaits rigging , but the rigging is so essential to the look of the aircraft that I can't say it's finished.
ollieholmes Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Im sure if you asked Mish nicely she would move this to the WIP forum for you.
