I've seen this depicted before, but it looks strange to my eyes. I believe they are actually spare track pins which are just stowed on the convenient holes in the spare wheel. Let me add my praise. It's an excellent build. I'm really going to have to stop looking at these armour threads as they inspire me, but I really have enough obsessions at the moment.
