spike7451
Hi Ho... Well,in an attempt to break the modelling rut I've been in over the past few month's ever since the disasterous GR4 with the bloody aweful AW decals,I went into the model shop yesterday & bought the above kit, did'nt want anything fancy or too complex & the canberra seems like a good, straightforward build I'm building it OOB,with maybe replacement seats or ones canabalised from the spares box.Might add some wireing ect in the cockpit although it looks like the is'nt much to see. Also doing it for the Gulf War GB. Are the any issues, pitfalls ect to watch out for? Anyway,as I'm useing a new lappy,I have lost a lot of my bookmarks so can anyone point me in the direction of a good reference site. Cheers, Merv
Tiger331
If it is anything like the B(I)8 and B2/6 (I have all three but only built the first), you need to watch out for the engine intake to wing joins. Quite a bit of filler is needed to blend these together. Then, there is the awful rudder, best replaced with the Cammnet example or seriously filled. Check the wing tips of the kit. They are susceptible to damage in transit but easily repairable. If you don't want the expense of a super detailed pilot/navigator cockpit (all opened up etc) then a Pavla Mk2 seat (available seperately) will do wonders for the pilot position. Pavla and Aires both do wheel well sets but I'm not sure of the utility of these anyway, if you are standing the aircraft on its undercarriage you cannot see much. HTH BTW...Sorry to be nosey but was the issue with the MA decals and your GR4 ?. Would it be one of the anniversary schemes by an chance ? spike7451
Thanks chaps, Tiger, the decals were for the 31Sqn anniversary one I was making for a old mate who's a Chiefy on 31sqn.The decals were soo badly translucent the black fin & the other undercolours bled thru, the golg writing on the fin fractured into bits on wetting. I eventually got a new set of decals which I'm going to use on the HB Tornado for my mate.

A good thread, wish I'd known about the wings before I glued them together... I'm not going overboard on this on as it's purely a 'for fun build' apart from the seats & a few fusalage corrections & replacing the BOZ pods with two spare from an Italeria Tornado GR1. spike7451
Next question....Where does the bleedin Nav sit? The are 3 seats in the kit but the instructions only show the pilots seat & the seat along the rear cockpit....

Harvs73
Merv, here are two links for a PR9 build that is pretty much OOB with minimal changes/additions to the kit: build thread - http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...&hl=harvs73 mostly completed thread: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...&hl=harvs73 To give you an idea of how much weight is needed in the kits, kave a look at the B.20 I built last year: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...&hl=harvs73 Hopefully these may be of asistance to you. One point that I forgot to mention in my build, the nose wheel assembly REALLY needs to be reinforced with some wire at the leg/fueslage join as the kit join is utter crap and doesn't last more than five minutes. I have also found on all of my several Airfix Canberra's (B.57, B.2/20 and PR.9) that the nose wheel posts where the wheels go one are short shot on one side and this needs to be replaced with some wire.
