gcn Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 So there I am doing this in 1/48 for the armour GB, although I've yet to post anything. The instructions call out for TS-3, which is an aerosol and is yellow in hue and the colour I want. They also say failing that you can use XF-60 which although has yellow in the title is F$%^$%^ing green. Its soo green Robin Hood would have been quite happy prancing about in tights all day long sprayed with this colour. Even a filter with yellow ochre fails to change its greenyness. The interiors done now, in green, but i'm having yellow if it kills me, so what colours would people suggest I use to get a yellow. I have Vallejo Desert Yellow and i'm tempted to use that but I would prefer Tamiya as its my favourite brand. many thanks
smuts Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Hi, the TS3 looks a better match to the DAK tan XF60 is the best match for dk yellow that replaced the grey out there IMHO if you're looking at acrylics try AV's panzer ace's or Lifecolor panzer color range. in enamels xtracolour X 808 ( RAL8020) Afrika korps desert tan ( don't get the desert yellow its way off) or Revell's 17 that's a match to the RAL bruin that DAK used later in the desert war, they probably do these in their acrylics line as well. HTH Andy.
Guest snipersmudge Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I use tamiya XF 60 dark yellow and tamiya flat white mixed 50/50 once the weathering process starts and all the dust etc is added it looks rather good
NikToo Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 I can thoroughly recommend LifeColor if you want a good set of DAK colours. You're better off buying the pots individually than getting the sets if you just want the DAK stuff.
