I have read bad things about the gnat... we shall see how this develops. I think I'll do the Gnat first though!

hovis
can I just say at this point what a brilliant idea this group build is? hats off to paul bickles and plastic bonsai for thinking this one up. just look at the response, it has loads of people of all ages coming out of the woodwork and posting pics for the first time, including myself. this really has done for britmodeller what james may did for airfix. I have also found this GB to be totally fun, I'm loving it! everybody is in the same boat so there's nothing to feel worried or ashamed by I only hope that this can become an annual event on here as it has captured perfectly in my eyes the whole spirit of modelling. at the end of the day it should be fun. plus I would like to see the judging of the models made not for the most perfect model, but for the model that has captured the spirit of the GB theme, but that's not up to me good job all round

Antony Robertson
Hi all I had such a good time doing the Hawk, i've been out and bought a mirage set to do as well! Antony
Plastic Bonsai
Hi allI had such a good time doing the Hawk, i've been out and bought a mirage set to do as well! Antony I can relate to that. These starter kits are the MSG of modelling. Half an hour after you've finished one you fancy another. Love that Hawk BTW. A friend told me the RAF stuck a group of bods on a Welsh mountain for a week and they whizzed all sorts of colour schemes past them and they had to vote for the most visible scheme. They decided to vote for black because it was the sexiest. hats off to paul bickles and plastic bonsai for thinking this one up.Hovis In my defence I'd like to say this was all Paul's idea. I just volenteered to help as I thought it was about time I did something useful around here instead of drooling over everyone else's work...and finally submitting a model. tim dix
Hi Guys, Can I join with a sea harrier from my Falklands war gift set? I have checked out the instructions and it only requires 6 of the paints supplied, so those will be the six I use (no white?!), just the one brush supplied and glue. I have actually just finished it, I started just after finishing my p-47 I submitted, but due to a burning computer monior I could not post until I got one today! If its not allowed, no big worries as I will just find something else to build. I do have photos for a build thread. Cheers Tim

I don't think that we have to mandate that you make all of them!... hang on a minute I've got one of those sets ( a pressie) - does it have paints? I don't think that we have to mandate that you make all of them!... hang on a minute I've got one of those sets ( a pressie) - does it have paints? cool, Yes it does, a brush and glue too, soo its just like a starter kit. There are around 15 paints in the box, but I only used six to keep it fair in respect of the other similar size kits, and like I said, the instructions for the harrier only state the use of six anyway. Pucara next then! (also included is an entendard, skyhawk, harrier gr3, and a mirage). Cheer Tim

The Shar will be too good but one (or two) of the others should be OK for a build here. Mind you it's gorgeous weather today and I've 10 railway sleepers to saw by hand so I may be some time.
