Tabio
Is there such a thing as a water warmer for when you do your decals? I find it a problem how quickly my pot of water cools down
keefr22
Is there such a thing as a water warmer for when you do your decals? I find it a problem how quickly my pot of water cools down I fill a vacuum flask with boiling water before I start & keep topping the bowl up. Lasts long enough for a decalling session. Also have a big empty jar in the model room to pour the cold water into before the bowl overflows....!! Wonder if a baby bottle warmer might work? But the vacuum flask does me! Deon
Does it make any real difference? i know warm waters recommended. Sometimes I use warm , sometimes cold, sometimes I just lick them! Seems to work just the same
Mike
A mug warmer would do the job, but frankly I don't normally have any problem with using tap water that's been stood on my bench for a while. Often I just dip a decal in the water for a second, then leave it on my desk while it softens up.
Charlie Cheetah
I use a candle warmer, pretty much the same thing as a mug warmer. I have an old porcelain cereal bowl that sits perfectly on the warming plate. That seems to keep the decal water a nice warm temperature. You can usually find these candle warmers at a good craft shop. The mug warmers can be found in departement stores and some kitchen gadget stores. kev67
I use warm and cold water it does not make any difference to the decal, just that the warm water releases the decal quicker
Tabio
I know it doesn't really make much difference but I find it better when the water is warm in terms of releasing it from the paper quicker. I might try a tea candle under a bowl of water

Once I switched to using warm or heated water, I never had that problem again. It does keep the carrier film softer, and they will setlle down better. My Academy decals however are another matter, they just dont want to settle down at all.

I have always had better results using warm water. Some Tamyia & Hasgegawa decals like the water quite hot. Julien
