Muzz
Finally finished my 14 Squadron GR4 in what I think is the one of the most attractive anniversary colour schemes of recent times. Italeri kit with Paragon flaps/slats, ejection seats, burner cans, fin correction and pylons, parts of the Flightpath conversion set and Model Alliance decals all used. Still in the process of constructing some intake covers to hide the chasm inside the intakes which is why the interiors are unpainted. Full build on In Progress. Thanks to Spike for the fuel tanks and got the metal pitot tube of a chap who sells them on ebay. Will hopefully get some better pictures up in a day or so, all comments welcome. tonyot
Thats one of the nicest Tornado kits that I`ve seen in a long time and I totally agree with you about the 14 Sqn anniversary scheme, but being a bit of a novice when it comes to modern jets and having a pair of 1/72nd Tornado`s on my desk at the moment (not to mention the Hobbycraft kit)...is it supposed to have a BOZ pod under each wing or should there be a Sky Shadow (I think thats what they are called?) ECM pod one one side and a BOZ on the other? Please don`t get me wrong...its not a criticism...I `m just curious to know the answer? All the best Tony O Edited March 18, 2010 by tonyot
Muzz
Thanks for all the comments guys. Tony, no problem. The Skyshadow pod is carried less and less now, Spike will tell you the reason for it, think it's either because of fatigue life of the pods or because their not as relevant in this day and age. It's just as common (if not more so) to see the jets carrying two Boz pods, the one on the port wing is a dummy pod with a blank end, sometimes even carrying two dummy pods. The dummy pods are carried as there simply isn't enough live pods to go round and carrying something on the outer pylons is better for the fatigue life of the wings. I've also seen photo's of jets carrying what appears to be dummy Sky Shadow pods and of course they now carry the Terma pod which is a modified BOZ pod but only really carried carried by Kandahar based jets at the moment. Alan P
What a great scheme! And you are right about the BOZ pods, especially on display aircraft. Al

Irishgreek
Really nice job. Love that scheme myself. Have 3 of the Hasegawa GR4s with that exact marking in my stash now. A LHS in one of the states I travel to (for work) was getting rid of alot their Hase Tonkas (marked way down), so I took advantage. What was it Maverick said in Top Gun "I had the shot, so I took it!"

Muzz Hiya Muzz, Thanks for putting me straight on the BOZ Pods with such a detailed reply which is just what I needed....and I`m relieved that you didn`t take offence too as that was most definately NOT my intention, I say again it is one of, if not THE best Tornado models that I`ve seen...fantastic build! AjD
That looks great. I love that scheme. Makes me want to get off my bottom and go finish mine which has been hanging around 1/2 built for the last 3 years! Or maybe I'll put it off for a little longer! The build looks fab though. A superb Tornado. Andy
longmc
Beautifully done! That is one of my favorite schemes. I hope mine can turn out half as nice as yours! cheers, Mike
