Pappy
G'day again, Here are some pics of my 1/72 Fujimi FGR.2. I can't recall which squadron the marking are for, but they are the kit decals. I added a couple of Matchbox crew figures as well as a little wiring behind the WSO's instrument panel, otherwise pretty much straight from the box. The weapons were also included. Paint is Gunze acrylics weathered with artist oils A very nice series of kits indeed. cheers, Pappy
rdxtnt
Nice looking Phantom Pappy Some very subtle weathering and the panel lines look really good. Just one small criticism if I may..... your markings are for a grey coloured 29 Sqn aircraft after the F4 moved over to the air defence roll and as such would be unlikely to be carrying Sneb pods on the inboard pylons. Sidewinder missiles were usually the norm on this station. Having said that though, I was at Coningsby when the Falklands kicked off and remember a trial being hastily implemented to fit CBTE's (the triple ejector racks that your Snebs are fitted to) to ensure that all the wiring etc was still in place so they could be fitted if neccessary, so perhaps not beyond the realms of possibility. Gary. G'day Gary, Thanks for the advice. I must confess I built the kit about 4-5 years ago and my research was limited, actually non-existent. Funny story, I started the kit when I was in my teens, the cockpit and interior was painted then and once the kit fuselage halves were joined and mated to the wings, the kit languished in the cupboard for another decade, before I pulled the kit out and decided to finish it once and for all. Interesting monniker BTW, RDX (Research Developed Explosive?) Not a gunnie (armourer) by any chance? cheers, Pappy

Hi Pappy. I can relate to that mate I've got a couple that have reached the "cupboard "stage and are unlikely to go any further! Looks like yours was worth the wait though............... nicely finished. Those Sneb pods look very good by the way. Did you paint the bodies with Alclad chrome or something?....... absolutely spot on. Interesting monniker BTW, RDX (Research Developed Explosive? You spotted it. Are you a member of "The Order of St. Barbara" yourself? I suspect from your use of the word "Gunnie" you're from the Southern end of the planet ? Worked with a few Aussie and Kiwi armourers after I left the mob........... Jeez, do they know how to party!

Indeed my cupboard bulges as well! When the SNEB pods were painted Alclad didn't exist. I used some 'bare metal' self adhesive foil, chrome I think. In retrospect, they are too shiny but I was just starting out. Bennygman
Sorry to break up the 'Armorer's party' , but that's a cracking job of a really lovely kit. The crew figures really add to the overall effect. Steve. Edited September 14, 2007 by Bennygman
