pigsty
Sites that sell ... ? Any site that flogs models, I guess. The quality of their selection will depend on what's in production and/or selling well, but I don't know of any retail site that's significantly better in this respect. The real specialists in modern British vehicles are Cromwell and Accurate Armour, but they're all-resin and you need to start saving now to afford some of theirs by next Christmas. Are you interested in anything in particular? Edited March 9, 2010 by pigsty
ChrisITA
Hi Mark, If you want modern british armour in plastic, here are some of the available models: Academy - Warrior and Desert Storm Warrior Tamiya - Challenger I and II Trumpeter - Challenger I and II and now II with 'bar' armour Relish Models is always great for this sort of thing, and brilliant servoce too www.relishmodels.co.uk As Sean says, all the really interesting stuff is only available in resin. Cromwell Models do several unique and interesting vehciles but currently have no website. Accurate armour are easier to get though, and they do loads of really great modern british kits in resin such as the FV432 and various specialist versions thereof (bulldog etc) and the CVRT family (saracen samaritan, scorpion etc etc). They also do all kinds of associated useful bits like modern british infantry and armoured crew, waterbottle and coke bottles in 1/35, scale antennas, allsorts. Their website is www.accurate-armour.com

TonyT
I shop on ebay for my armour, some of the companies from Hong Kong are first rate, one I asked if they could provide extra sprues with the tow bars for the Styrkers, as some of the later kits had them and for a couple of quid both kits arrived with exta sprues....... faultless
ChrisITA
Well at the moment i got insperation to do a Transport wagon....just been watching road warriors and fancy that as a project.. but i guess its just a case of converting a civvie truck????? I'm afraid so. Brit isn't well served by manufacturers full stop. Although they're starting to remember we actually fought in WWII, they still have selective memories for more modern subjects and softskins are bottom of their list of things to do Depending on how much experience you have (and they do tend to be for experienced modellers, i.e. beyond me!) Firing Line do some really nice looking stuff, including a beford Mk4 truck, various landrovers and the landrover gun tractor, Alvis vehciles and BV206 (fancy one of these myself) firing line models

Mike
I suppose you could say it's for the more advanced modeller - one with a bigger wallet usually too, as the stuff is low volume production and expensive to make. The main issue with resin kits is that there can be some issues with fit that require some modelling skills. The best way of putting them together is pinning with metal rod (paperclip metal will do), and either superglue for small parts or 5 minute epoxy for the big bits. You also get air bubbles, which can be a pain, but there are simple fixes - one mentioned here by yours truly Wash the parts in warm water & suds to remove mould release, and reshape any bent bits in hot water... simple! It's not voodoo, and it opens up a new source of kits - especially useful to someone like yourself with a bit a chosen subject that's in a partly forgotten niche HTH
ChrisITA
If its your first resin kit, I'd go for Accurate Armour (unless you were looking for interiors of course, in which case there really is only one choice lol ) AA Kits have great fit, minimal clean up and are relatively easy to put together
