AnonymousAA72
Must be all of a decade ago now, I converted an Airfix GR3 to a T8. Basically using plastic card. plastic rod and miliput. Here's a pic (back in them far off 2Meg days!!) of the end product - as it appeared on ARC. No other photo's of the finished model exist nowadays apart from those on ARC. This was of course before Heritage issued their conversion kit - and yes I do have that in the stash Ian!! Moving forward a few long years, found the model in a box in the loft - having survived a few house moves - I don't suppose she was in that bad a shape.... SO, as I had sunk a few hours in getting that moidel to that state all of those years ago - I thought that I should refurbish her! To add to my 1/48th Harrier/Shar collection..... Now question is...How should she be finished....There are of course a few options.. As a T2 - remove FWR and extend fin upwards - shorten tail boom. Can paint in standard RAF colours or as G-VTOL in Dark Earth/Light(Mid?) Stone/Blue maybe? As a T2 -remove FWR and lower fin slightly - shorten tail boom. Leave as is and build as a T4A, or T4N or T8 Add LRMTS and build as a T4 or as the VAAC Harrier - nice and colourful but no readily available decals...... I'll let you know!! But do feel free to chip in with any suggestions! Edited March 8, 2010 by Bill Clark
AnonymousAA72
VAAC, VAAC, did I say VAAC. rich p.s Would the decals from this conversion do. They may sell you just a decal sheet! http://www.coopersmodels.com/catalog/item/...418/5639058.htm Hmmmm Tempting - though I'm not sure about the pods under the fuselage - we shall see!! In the meantime as I have a few days off of work this week, I thought I'd get cracking.. First job is to strip her of paint! Mr Muscle is your friend here!! Will clean her up later - I'll give it another hour or so..........
Shar2
G-VTOL would look quite nice.
xffw45343tg
VAAC in camo? I think much of the lettering during that phase of her life was pretty bog standard. You could also have a bit of fun with that rear cockpit - there are some great reference pics on the Flight International archive in an article by John Farley. I'll dig out a reference if you don't have it. Mind you, what's not to like about a black Harrier? Kirk

Thats a possibility - though if I think if I do the VAAC Harrier it would HAVE to be in Raspberry Ripple! And the T8 is STILL a possibility - given that there are now commercial decals available!! G-VTOL would look quite nice. Indeed Dave - in Desert camo.......
AnonymousAA72
Great stuff that Mr Muscle - apparently its not bad for cleaning ovens as well! Right, looking like something from the fire dump at Manston...... I just ran thecold tap over the model to remove the worst and then used some kitchen towel.. I'll give her a proper good clean up later. You can see here how I converted the basic GR3 kit - with plastic card extensions and Milliput. One I've cleaned all the paint off - I'll then re-scribe any panel lines, and then I'll decide on the scheme and therefore the Mark. Any modifications can take place then....
