Deacon Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 (edited) I am not a regular 'viewer' of Britmodeller but recently thought I would like to have a go at some of the GB's on here. So, 9 days to go and I am going to try to get a kit done which I started for a Vietnam GB last year. I hope you will agree that it is less than 20% complete. I will finish this in the US Navy - HA(L)-3, Bin Thuy 1970 markings as I know another member is doing the same a/c and I haven't got a Navy Huey in my colllection. The picture shows the part construction. I tend to break down boxes in order to save on storage and to confuse the wife as to how many kits I have actually got. Deacon Posted February 26, 2010 Author Posted February 26, 2010 Thanks Erwin. Here is my first update which shows the cab completed (minus flight instrument panel). Cheers Deacon
Deacon Posted March 2, 2010 Author Posted March 2, 2010 Another update. Managed to put the grey primer on last night. Just hope the liquid mask does the trick. Cheers Deacon
Deacon Posted March 4, 2010 Author Posted March 4, 2010 (edited) Latest update. Just tonight and tomorrow night to finish this. Deacon Edited March 5, 2010 by Deacon
Deacon Posted March 5, 2010 Author Posted March 5, 2010 Here is the finished article (although looking at the photos one or two places need tidying). Cheers Deacon
ASHO77 Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 Looks FANTASTIC!! Shame it won't be in a diorama setting sitting on the back of a navy ship or something.HUEY'S FOREVER!!
Deacon Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Thanks Ash. Here is a shot of the Vietnam helicopters I have at present. UH-1B, UH-1C, UH-1D, UH-34 and Cayuse. I still have a UH-1N to do, but want to do it in the colours whilst it served in Nam, which I am finding hard. Thanks again. Deacon
TonyT Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Love it, remember some of them visiting Odiham, though unarmed
Romeo Alpha Yankee Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Very nice work Deacon! Is your UH-1D in US Army markings? They look a little different to the other Hueys
Romeo Alpha Yankee Posted March 8, 2010 Posted March 8, 2010 Very nice work Deacon! I like different markings and you don't see many Navy Hueys built for the Vietnam era.
Excess Posted August 8, 2010 Posted August 8, 2010 I still have a UH-1N to do, but want to do it in the colours whilst it served in Nam, which I am finding hard. Hi Deacon, I've just joined and saw this old post. Its probably old news but the USAF used UH-1Ns from late 1970. They were used in Vietnam, some by the 20th Special Operations Squadron, the Green Hornets, and had a wrap around three colour camouflage. There's some more info here (scroll down about halfway) and here. Cheers
