Glen T
Stunning, always been a fan of big Russian jets something of a 1950's sci fi feel to them, wonderful work General a great looking model. Glen.
TRUSKY1965
Another great post, and what a wonderful plane! You really have captured the strong and mighty shape of this red beast. Congratulations one more time, dear General! The metal finish, the weaponery and the fantastic landing gear are a few almost perfect details of the model. I really love these amazing planes of the cold war! I repeat my congratulations, this time you really make the difference with this job! Kind regards. TRUSKY1965. InFlames
Great job! After seeing one myself at Monino, I am very tempted to build one myself. And I know how it is to build A-model kits - their Su-11 was the hardest job so far...
general melchett
Just a little update for those interested...thanks to Jabba the exhaust problem has been solved by way of a small company in Switzerland called Matterhorn Circle who produce a small range of very high quality resin parts for various kits including much to my surprise these TU 128 nozzles...great work as these are quite complex units and the kit parts bear no relation to the real thing at all!! I ordered 2 sets as I intend to build the UT Pelican trainer some time so they are a must!! Cheers for looking, Melchie... Alcladded and washed ready for fitting...a word of warning they do need sanding down quite a bit to slide in easily... Finally added...huge improvement on the kit parts.... Martian
Very nice General! Now rejoin the TSR2 parade before you face a guava halve squad! Field Marshall Douglas Haig Edited March 5, 2010 by martin hale
Phartycr0c
Superb stuff Melchie. The music on the video, ironically is in perfcet time with the "boobies" emoticon so good choice all round I say. Talking of good choice, the subject is really unusual and is a pleasure to see built. Your execution is amazing and really does justice to the subject. Congratulations. TomTheTomcat
Cheers AVo, I think you may be in for a bit of a wait, unless Trumpeter comes along with one, (hopefully to the standard of its backfires rather than say the Lightnings), I can't see anyone else producing one. It's frustrating because the model is basically very accurate and scales out perfectly to plans but Amodel with their limited resources and short run moulding process don't exactly help matters by producing the kit in such small sections with a very vague, 'it fits where it touches't quality. Some of the tiny parts are just blobs of white plastic which need to be hacked and hammered into shape to vaguely resemble what they are supposed to be ! but I for one am very grateful to them for doing it at all and their new models are a vast improvement over these early ones,Here are a couple of examples of fit, (the rear fuselage is a lot worse!!!), in themselves not a big problem until you realize that you have to finish the model in aluminium which is very unforgiving to say the least and require a super smooth finish !!, Sorry Julien, I'm using a large lcd screen here set to 1920X 1024 res and sometimes forget how big these look on smaller screens!!....I'll see what I can do.. And still you made a wonderful model out of this !! Just great. BoB Edited March 5, 2010 by TomTheTomcat
