Yep, Another 1:24 Mossie !

Recommended Posts

Good day all.

I've been lurking round here for a few months and recently decided to join in the fun and games !!

I've been building the new Airfix offering for the last three weeks now and have been debating whether to post my own WIP thread, mainly because the standards on here are a little intimidating!

Anyway, here goes, be gentle !!!

Cockpit assembly :-

Engines and undercarriage :-

Thanks for looking, I know it's not particularly accurate or up to the standards on here but I've had fun so far and that's what it's all about!!

Will update with more pics soon.

Cheers, Si. :D

Hi Si

Great looking Mosquito so far! It really does look like a very detailed kit. My local hobby shop should have them arriving in the next week or so, so your build is great inspiration.

May I ask what the .303 ammo chutes in the nose are made out of, ie are they plastic or rubber?

Keep up the good work.

Cheers,

Richard. :speak_cool:

Well thanks chaps, really do appreciate the kind words.

Painted over the last day of so, unfortunately I don't have the means to buy an airbrush so its big old hairy stick time......eek!!

Some more pic's from today's efforts:-

It's getting a dose of Klear and I'll be having a go at weathering tomorrow. Most of my previous builds have been "Factory- Fresh" as it were, but thanks to having a good look round here I've picked up some great tips so I'll be having a go !!

Thanks again everyone, I'll get some pics up of the results !

Cheers, Si.

All the tips and techniques I use have mainly been gleaned from searching this site, there's some very skilled people on here.

Could I ask for an honest opinion on my weathering ?

I've been using burnt umber and a very dark grey in a blend that I can easily recreate, have I overdone or underdone it, all opinions welcome !

Still fiddling with it, nothing other than washes at the moment, just need to know if I'm going the right way with it.

Again, many thanks in advance.

good stuff si.

i think the weathering in the bomb-bay is just right.

trevor

Thanks Trevor, I must admit that some of the weathered effect was down to me sanding the lower fuzz seam them blowing the dust accidentally into the bomb bay......oops !

That is a great job.

Your painting is better then my airbrushing.

I really need to get an airbrush and start having a proper play. Thanks for that though, I was a bit concerned about attacking such a big model with a stick !!

Cheers, Si.
