Jazzy Jase
Does anyone have any information or photos of Spitfire MA585? I'm looking to build my Tamiya Spit IX as MA585 using an Eagle Cals sheet as flown by Buzz Beurling, 403Sqn. Accoding to spitfire.ukf.net the aircraft was with 403Sqn from 26-6-43 to 21-10-43. They have the aircraft wearing the long nose intake, thin gun fairings on the wings, rounded rudder and the early-style elevators. Had the long intake and smaller gun fairings been introduced by then? EDIT: I should say I've had a search around the net and not come up with any concrete info. Simon Hopkins
Hi, I checked Robert Brackens's Spitfire the Canadians and the Victory Productions Aces of the Empire sheet and they both describe MA585 as you have . The only feature they don't definitely confirm is the thin gun fairings. Good luck with your build! Simon
Jazzy Jase
Thanks Simon, I've had some information from someone I trust who says the larger gun fairings are most likey as the small ones weren't introduced until 1944. I also fancy building my Hasegawa 1/48 IX in exactly the same markings, which means I'll be buying some Ultracast elevators and gun fairings unless anyone has the early ones spare from the "Kenley Wing" or "Clostermann" boxing of the kit (Parts D1, D2, K1, K2)?
