brewerjerry
Hi All, Was there a standard RAF aircraft intruder ( not night fighter ) scheme, Or did each unit just do what they wanted, or was there standard orders for each aircraft type. Is there a reference book, etc with it all in. I am primarily interested in the times before Oct - Nov 42, ( when black, nivo, etc, was used on hurricanes, havocs, etc.) Basically the months before the grey undersurfaces etc was introduced, about Nov 42. Any links, comments, welcome. cheers Jerry
Nick Millman
Paul Lucas explored the evolution of the Intruder Scheme (for Hurricanes) in Model Aircraft Monthly, Vol 7 Issue 1, January 2008, which is still available as a back issue here:- http://www.sampublications.com/sampubs.htm It covers exactly the period you are referring to and goes through the various official instructions, trials and changes, also including some illustrative colour profiles. rossm
The Ducimus Camouflage and Markings series touches on this, especially for the Hurricane and Havoc and to a lesser extent the Blenheim. The NIVO seems to have been one of a number of experiments, none of which are mentioned as seeing actual service, in fact the impression I get is that the squadrons would have used standard nightfighter schemes and all the oddities were trial aircraft although I know some squadrons were involved in the trials (especially Havoc squadrons ?). brewerjerry
Hi Thanks guys for the replies. I have ducimus C&M, ( couldn't part with the book when I emigrated ), but haven't got 'Model Aircraft Monthly, Vol 7 Issue 1, January 2008', it's now on my list... A/c mag's are a bit rare this side of the pond due to the cover price, hence many don't stock them, so I miss a lot of articles. cheers jerry
