silverburn
Hi all, Eventually, I've got these rockets on! Which means this bad boys is finished! Original build thread here, where most of the pics are - no point duplicating them here. This has been an eventful, but ultimately rewarding model - I'm tempted to do another... Things I'd like to do better next time: - Rocket rails; they were seriously warped, and a right ol' pain. They're still not absolutely correct; the end rail seems to point down more than the others - in fact it looks a completely different rail altogether! - The pit; 1985 modelling was certainly sparse - a better job of the seams; I've done a few models since then, and my seam-work is really improving. - weathering; I was "banned" from doing any this time, but I fancy a really old, dirt one. I've seen a few classics online. - a better engine; the kit engine barely resembles 1:1 - better decals - the OOB ones (used here) are both incorrect and RUBBISH! Anyway...to the pics! (remember...build thread has tons more). Edited January 31, 2010 by silverburn

Erwin
Very nice. Just a pitty that the fuselage roundel is devided by the black undercoat. Edited January 31, 2010 by Erwin

Yeah - that's the ancient OOB decals for you. Wrong roundel anyway, for use with D-day stripes. Really must get myself some proper RAF 1:32 roundels at some point for the stash. F-32
Nice build, like the scheme alot. I feel your pain on the decals, same thing just happened on one of my Canberra's!
Maxidad
Pity about the non-opaque decals. Other than that, she is a beauty. Well done.

timbo33
Nice effort. I think Revell kits are generally good value and you've achieved an excellent result with a less than ideal kit. At the end of the day you have to decide whether you're going to pay £90 for a trumpeter offering or £25 for revell... I've just taken the cheaper route for my 1/48 Dakota and it hasn't turned out too bad (I've learned a lot about filling and sanding LOL) One small criticism - the exhaust collector ring at the front of the engine nacelle shouldn't be bright shiny Copper - it was natural metal that got burned and discoloured so should probably be a sort of Dark Bronze or Titanium Colour. It's a shame that the kit manufacturers always use a Copper colour callout for that feature.
