Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Here's where I am... Still drying... Oh well - if I don't make midnight - she will be finished tonight. Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Tracks painted - off for glossing in a mo... Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Paint still not ready for glossing - but I'm so close... I will get gloss on overnight and weather, deatail etc before matting down - she will be finished before I go to bed! You can see where I've worn the soft paint off the corners of the sponsons! Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Hmmm... Well it's still 31st July for another few hours in some parts of the World... Go on guys - gimme another couple of hours! Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 First coat of gloss varnish on - another to follow... Then washes Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Bottom glossed - and the varnish appears to be stabilising the green Iain
ollieholmes Posted July 31, 2010 Posted July 31, 2010 Keep going on this one. Im enjoying seing the regular updates.
Iain Ogilvie Posted July 31, 2010 Author Posted July 31, 2010 Cheers Ollie... All glossed now - prolly dry enough for me to add some worn metal highlights to the tracks. Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Still waiting for varnish to harden before I get weathering... Here are a few pix from an hour ago - white areas are wet varnish. First coat of Grey on the machine guns since photo's - and another coat of chemicals on the zorst components. Back soon! Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Yay - oil paints out - and she's coming alive! Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 And here's the start of that process: Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 OK - sides oil painted and polished... Centre section attacked with ProModeller wash - along with tracks. All drying out by the Aga now - so not a lot I can do right now. Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Not tonight! Just waiting for washes to dry - I *will* finish before I go to bed... Iain
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Right... By my reconing it's still Saturday 31st in some parts of the Globe... And - drum roll please - she's done! She may get some weathering powders at some point - but she's all there and displayable. Last jobs were matt varnish - and then a finger dipped in ground pencil lead and run over the surface of the tracks - putting graphite on the raised parts that would get wear. Will take better pix in daylight - but in the mean-time I give you my tribute to those brave men that crewed the 'Land Ships' Quick tidy - then bedski Iain
TonyT Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Quick tidy - then bedski no staying power looks good
AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Iain I had to admit defeat at midnight, good work sir.

AnonymousDFB1 Posted August 1, 2010 Posted August 1, 2010 Yes I concur with Ollie, because of the extraordinary effort you put in Iain to finish her on time, she's in.
Iain Ogilvie Posted August 1, 2010 Author Posted August 1, 2010 Sorry Mish... And thanks all - appreciated! I'm just please to have finished something - even if it was at the thirteenth hour! As promised - some pix in daylight (with some weathering powder): Iain
