ollieholmes Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) Welcome to Britmodellers Great War Group build. I will be hosting this one with The Velociweiler, please pm either of us if you have any issues and we will do our best to resolve them, also the admin team are on hand if needs be. Please post here what you will be entering and feel free to ask any questions here. The group build runs from the 30th of this month untill the 31st July. We ask that you start your own work in progress threads here though. The rules are pretty simple on this one; 1. Models are allowed to be partly started, the ruling is that no major sub assemblys can be put together, if you are not sure please ask and we will make a decision. 2. Anything that saw service between July 1914 and November 1918 is allowed. 3. Any kit, any scale is allowed 4. Have fun, after all this is a hobby and its ment to be enjoyable. Also if any of our arty members feel like having a go at creating a banner please post them here and i will add them to this post for others to use. I will try and create one or two myself in the near future. NickT Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Ollie, I would like to join this GB with a 1/48th Eduard Fokker DR.1 Nick
The Velociweiler Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Hi All - Thanks Ollie. I'll be in with a 1\200 scratchbuilt HMS Queen Mary Battlecruiser, mainly from wood and an Emhar 1\72 Mk IV Tank Diorama. Just a thought, Ollie - you being the Air Contingent of this GB, and probably will garner the lion's share of the enquiries, there's obviously going to be a deal of interest in the Fokkers (oo-er....!). Don't suppose there's going to be profit in forming a sub-group within the GB of creating as many of the Famous 'Flying Circus' as can be considered, is there? Might be an interesting aspiration?
mahross Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I'm in with a figure. Captain Lanoe George Hawker, DSO, VC Ross
The Velociweiler Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I'm in with a figure. Captain Lanoe George Hawker, DSO, VC Ross How Tall does he stand?
mahross Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 How Tall does he stand? Its a 54mm piece. Ross
Fifer54 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I've got two builds for this GB My main build is the Toko/Roden 1/72 Hansa-Brandenburg W29 floatplane. The other build is Emhar's 1/72 MkIV "female" Tank.

Daniel Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Never built a tank before, presume this would be okay? http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=AX01315 Dan
Mike Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I think I'm going to be doing a French Renault FT-17, but I think I need some AM gear before I start... I have a feeling it might get done somehow
ollieholmes Posted January 27, 2010 Author Posted January 27, 2010 Never built a tank before, presume this would be okay?http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=AX01315 Dan Dan, Im no armour man but i do know that would be allowed.

Thats an interesting idea, id like to see how many DR1s are offerd and if anyone is interested in doing this. I will add a thread for people to say yes or no to once i have an idea of numbers of DR1s.
gcn Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 in an ever growing list of GB's i've put my name to i'll be entering a WNW SE5a. I have a stack of reference material borrowed from a WWI know it all so i'm all ready to go once my helo, Ferrari and armoured vehicle have been sorted.
crookedmouth Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I already started a topic on my Roden 1/48 SE5a entry, but I could do with a ruling as it's a little more progressed than "no major subassemblies".
Bobs_Buckles Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Can I put my part started 1/32 Roden fok.DR.1 in the GB? The only thing I've done with it is the engine and a mod to the cowling. Cheers, Bob
Fifer54 Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 I'm going to be entering the same, lets hope they look different Mish...... the way I build......they'll look different!
The Velociweiler Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Never built a tank before, presume this would be okay?http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=AX01315 Dan Hi - Welcome to the GB - That kit will be just fine. Getting a bit old but it goes together OK, and there's not a lot you really need to worry about with it. I think I'm going to be doing a French Renault FT-17, but I think I need some AM gear before I start... I have a feeling it might get done somehow Hi Mike - Built the 'Radio' version of this kit. Tweezers a must when you get to the running gear. A personal councillor wouldn't be a bad idea too, plus some stress toys strewn around..!!

ollieholmes Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 I'll bear that in mind, thanks I for one am looking forward to seing you tackle this one Mike. Who makes the kit and what scale is it in?
Robert Stuart Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 It's about time I finished a model, I'd like to try with a WN BrisFit
Mike Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I for one am looking forward to seing you tackle this one Mike. Who makes the kit and what scale is it in? It's a small Eastern European company called RPM, and it's 1:35 scale. I think Fruil do some tracks for it, so I'll have to see if I can get some shekels together to get 'em.
Robert Stuart Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 (edited) Are there any requirements for banners? {edit}I've now deleted older versions of the banner, to avoid confusion - hence 403 messages in some posts{/edit} Edited January 30, 2010 by Robert Stuart
