AntPhillips
Absolutely fantastic, the Aluminium sheet trick works a treat, is it just thick Aluminium foil or a sheet, whatever it really works.
nick
Nick, one thing you are missing is the Positive battery terminal needs a rubber boot over it, because if you accidentally touch it to anything else metal, it will short with the chance of a fire, blowing the electrics or worse case senario the battery exploding in your face........ the Negative does not need one as it will be a negative earth return through the chassis, Staggering build BTW . Tony, I have an intimate knowledge of what you are referring to in the shape of many years ago, leaning heavily on a ring spanner tighning aforementioned battery nut, that was in contact with watch band, that was in turn in contact with car body, thus spot welding watch strap links together + smell of pork + swearing I will NEVER do that again You are, of course correct Nick Edited June 15, 2010 by nick

My secret weapon 2 quid a pair from Tesco. Ideal thickness, I've tried about twenty different foils and thin sheets, this stuff is just right Nick

nick
Here's today's progress. This is a shot of the BMF over micro balloons to replicate the rough texture I was talking about. It's slightly too coarse but it will do Getting there now I think, got the sides done Nick Edited June 15, 2010 by nick
nick
Pretty much scratch built the front suspension arms tonight, I'll post some pictures tomorrow Nick
nick
The front suspension arms started out like this with large fictitous fillets on the underside as you can see here- they had to go! so all that material carefully removed and tube section formed from the wreckage, made a new fillet from plasticard and punched a turret and top fillet piece from ali sheet Heres the full size Edited June 17, 2010 by nick

nick
Just tried microballoons to represent the suede on the steering wheel. Hmm, that didn't work then, back to the drawing board looks OK with the naked eye, but looks like its covered in ping-pong balls close up. SO suggestions then for ultra-fine non-soluble powder to represent suede at 1/12th - answers on a postcard (-: Nick Edited June 22, 2010 by nick

You get in from craft stores. Otherwise what about mixing talc with the paint & try stippling it on? Keef
nick
Stripped the steering wheel back to bare plastic and will do it properly this time. Had a nice few hours in my element super-detailing the engine bay this afternoon making brackets, connectors and cables, will post some photos tomorrow as sunny evening/new patio set and n (where n>2) of bottles of Amarone and some other nice stuff has has won the day (-: that's life as the French say Nick Edited June 23, 2010 by nick
