Edgar
Fuselage and under-wing roundels were supposed to comply with the usual fighter dimensions. On the Warhawk, the upper-wing roundels were 19"/48", and I'd expect the Kittyhawk to have been similar. The official dimensions were "fixed" by a convoluted formula:- take 1/3 of the wingspan, measure that distance from the cente-line of the aircraft, and that is the centre point of the roundel, which should fill the available space, without encroaching onto the aileron or yellow l/e. This is why hardly any WWII a/c have identical sized roundels. Edgar

nicholas mayhew
thank you Terry and BS_w interesting that on my 1/32 kit the Barracuda decals which do scale back to 48" seemed a bit of a squeeze, but at 47" and it all makes sense thanks again Nick
