Skii
Hello the beautiful BM massif I've got the Academy 1/48 Su-27UB en route : ... and was wondering if anyone can give me any pointers on what is avilable for this kit - ie cockpit, detail sets etc ? also I'm looking to build it a a Russian Knights bird - is Begemot my best bet for decals ? Not exactly easier to get hold of are they !?!
Graham T
Big isn't it! I've got the Academy B model & I'd be interested in available enhancements too. Kit markings provided in the box are a bit disappointing.
PHIL B
Mmm, Flanker! Ahem, sorry. Skii, Hannants have Begemot's Su-27 sheet 48-006 for 1/3rd off at £7.63. Here ya go: http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=BT4806 I've checked the Begemot site and the instructions show it includes a Russian Knights Su-27UB. http://begemotdecals.ru/showpos.php?〈=2&id=51 Phil. AnonymousFY21
The Neomega pit is jolly nice John. I have the Cutting Edge burner cans, and they are OK! but the Aires ones look better. That's about it really mate. richc

Screech
Hi, You might want to look at the Quickboost Su-27 Resin Nose Replacement. I have read that the Academy kit is off on its look, so I picked one up for my kit. HTH

On the subject of burner cans these are for the Flanker 'B' - are the same ones used on the 2 seater as well ? cheers J

I would safely say yes, the Knights fly the regular "Style" of Flanker, no thrust vectoring yet, although it would be interesting to see a thrust vectored "COBRA" manoeuver. zipper
I've got the Neomega cockpit set for mine along with the Quickboost replacement nose cone, Neomega also do a corrected nose. The Begemot decals are quite nice as ordered mine from hannants for the SMW show as they were on special offer. I've also got the Promodeller dvd which is really useful with plenty of tips about the kit.
AnonymousFY21
DOH! Forgot about the Neomega nose. I picked one up at Telford as well . The cans from Aires are fine for the UB John. richc
Av8fan
I just read on ARc that the QB nose may be too big. See post #52 I have the QB nose as well. I am going to have to test fit it this weekend. Loon vs QB SU-27 Nose Edit - Loon is sold by Roll Models. So, expect to pay through the nose for shippinng Loon Listing Edited January 8, 2010 by Av8fan

David W
Hi Skii, I used the Neomega pit, Cutting Edge exhausts, Quickboost antennas, Quickboost pitot tubes & Eduard PE on mine (Page 7 of the "ready for inspection", shameless plug I know!). Also Linden Hill do a full stencil set but not sure if this is correct for the Knights aircraft. Neomega pit fits great, just needs some thinning to fit over the front wheel well. It is showing its age a little, the dials are not the best & although the seats are nice, Aires & Quikboost do better ones. I was thinking of trying to use the Eduard PE dials with the Neomega pit on my next build but I have not done any test fitting yet so cant say if it would work. The Ed PE is also a must for a decent HUD and other finer detail on the exterior. Just one thing to note, originally the Neomega pit came with a vac form canopy but last time I visited the site there was a note saying this was no longer provided. The canopy framing will not fit the kit canopy & also some trimming of the rear cockpit coaming is needed if you want to get the kit canopy in the closed position, as I did (Still not the best fit). The only available exhaust nozzles are the Aires ones which look very nice. The Quickboost pitot tubes and antennas are a vast improvement over the kit ones as is the replacement nose cone. The kit cone is too bulbous in shape, I thinned the kit part down on my build as when I started it there were no replacements available. I do have a spare resin cone made by a company called L&M who are not around anymore, its slightly longer than the Quickboost offering but has good shape & is a vast improvement over the kit part. Its yours FOC if you want it, just PM me. David.

zipper
Just a quick update on the Neomega pit, I had also noticed the comment about the Vac canopy not included in the set but I got mine from SMW in November and it came with the Vac canopy and the opening jack so it can be displayed open with a little work.
