Skii
Why is it so hard to find walkaround pics of the T.5 ? presumably because they didn't manufacture many of them ? or is it just me ?

Fmk.6john
Skii The T.5 was not blessed with an arrestor hook, only airframes with the modified (longer) ventral tank had the hook. Regards, JB. Forgot to add, that walkround is of XS420 that resides at F.A.S.T. in Farnborough, she is one of the 'Lakes Lightnings' kites . What do you need John? I did have pic's of the interior sent to me -when I was building the T4 for the SAMI article. I'll see if I can find them. Also The T5 was based on the F3 airframe , The T4 on the F1a - so, apart from the chubby cheeks, spine, canopy and rear fairing the details are the same. Plenty of pic's of most of the airframes on the Vertical reality site - though not that many walkarounds/close ups. Worth having a look at the SAMi book- some great interior drawings on there..... Fmk.6john
Bill, Slight correction, the T.4 cockpit was totally different from the T.5, the canopies were the same on both though. Regards, JB.

Hi Bill I could do with the panel lines on the wings as I'm rescribing the 1/72 aeroclub conversion, also the lower fuselage panel lines particularly around the aft section rear of the belly tank if you can help ? Hi Bill, I saw the above and would be very keen to get hold of the T.4 pics. I'm planning to build one of my 1/48 Airfix lightnings in the markings of 92Sqn when based at RAF Geilenkirchen in 1968, overall natural metal, blue spine & fin plus yellow trainer bands. Many thanks XV Tonker

Many thanks XV Tonker I'll see what I can find...I know I have the pc's somewhere, its just I haven't seen them for a while - incidentally the pic's I have are for a T5. The interiors were quite different as the trainer's throttle controls were in different positions! You should try to get a hold of the SAMi book for details! Regarding 92 Sqns T4, I don't recall ever seeing a photo of their T4 WITH yellow "T-bands". If you do know of any please let me know!! There are drawings in the Model Alliance book of though... Most photo's show XM995 without T-bands (but with blue fin and spine) 92 Sqn T4 XM995 Edited December 18, 2009 by Bill Clark

Anything that gives a visualisation of the panel lines to be honest Bill, everyhing I've found so far relates to the F6 with the kinked wing

Most photo's show XM995 without T-bands (but with blue fin and spine) 92 Sqn T4 XM995 I got the info from the AIRDOC 'British Lightnings, The Vertical Twin of the RAF in Germany. It includes a colour profile of XM995 'T' with the training bands, and represents the aircraft from January 1968. The book also includes a colour picture of 'T' in flight without the stripes, although it doesn't give a year, but I suspect it's just before they painted it in green. Thats not to say it didn't happen, 'cos it'd make a frightingly colourful Lightning....I'd just like to know it actually happened, with photographic evidence....The art-work drawing I was referring to was by Peter Scott in the On Targer Profile 13 from Model Alliance/Aviation Workshop cite as its reference:"English Elecric Lightning in Royal Air Force & Foreign Service " by Roger Levy, 1972. The caption states this was in 1966, and was of XM995, so the bands could well have been removed by the photo's I've seen.
