Do pre-check the wingroot fit; I can't remember how much, exactly, but I had to insert a wedge of plasticard into the l/e, to spread it, to make it a tighter fit. This was on the "J," but the "D" might be the same. I also had to make boxes, in the nosewheel bay, and under the cockpit floor, to take enough lead shot, to stop the thing becoming a tail-sitter. It damn nearly clapped hands, with all that weight.

Strangely enough, I had no problem in that area with my D.

(Cue shameless plug for my own model) here's something I did for Hyperscale some time ago:

As Edgar says, weighting the nose is an issue. The D is, as you can imagine, even worse than the J in this respect because of that glazed nose. I ended up using that stick-on lead ballast normally employed by our flying model brethren, and stuck that over every interior surface forward of the C/G where it wouldn't be seen. There is also weight in the engine nacelles. When it was finished it still needed a bit extra inserted via the turret.

Look forward to seeing the finished model.

Hi there

Nice to see another Mono' B-24 coming along. Its a shame we don't see more of these built, but where would you put them all?!

You're a brave man, cutting out the rear of the nacelles like that, but I'm sure it will look al the better for it.

Regarding the nose weight, after inheriting a part built B-24 with stacks of lead in the nacelles, I wonder if a better solution would not be to make a false roof for the nose gear bay from lead, and then cover it with a piece of brass or plastic sheet. There's plenty of room in there, and I doubt the reduction in depth would be very noticeable. Just an idea, haven't actually tried it meself! :)

Here's the one I inherited, after I'd rebuilt it (but with a few bits still missing)...

Wings together, engines in, Supercharger exhaust done. Just working out the best way to build the cowel flaps and the flaps, Probabally will go for brass sheet. Real modelling this Neil, :drink:
