Kes
Good evening armour people?? My usual modelling genre is things with wings, but after a period of malaise in my modelling mojo I thought I'd kickstart my enthusiasm with a trip to the LMS, after watching some stuff on the Discovery Channel,Nat Geo etc on AFV's I've returned home with a Hasegawa Crusader MkIII an Armourfast Cromwell and an Airfix Bofors Gun and Tractor, which is odd really, I intended to buy an Airfix Churchill!! but there were a few different ones which confused me so I went with nice box artwork!! Ha!! well, kind of, the Bofors gun will be part of a diorama and the Crusader and Cromwell were types I knew to be British which is my main interest. A lot of WWII era British armour kits seem to be in desert camo, which is understandarble given the importance of the campaigns in North Africa but I'd like to model in European theatre colours, so my first question, was there a standard theatre paint job used by the British army like the RAF had it's basic colour and camo schemes, if so, which colours were they? or the nearest Humbrol equivalents would be good? I have built armour stuff in the past, most recently Tamiya 1/35 Chieftain and Challenger but they were a long time ago, the most recent was the then new 1/35 Trumperter Challenger II which is now in the loft unfinished?? I remember building Airfix and Matchbox tanks as a kid, very fiddly I seem to remember?? More questions later, if you'd be good enough to indulge me? . . .
