kev67
Hi Kev,The seat supports are shown in the files I sent you, I'm afraid I haven't get any photos: The frames have no rear supports to allow for leg-room. Note that the second row of seats sit on the main spar so the supports are different, John's photo in his previous post shows that very nicely....also, the seat arrangement would depend on whether the aircraft was for pax or comms/nav training, in which case there would less seats but tables and various bits of kit installed. The rear bulkheads were removable, depending on use. There is a fuselage frame just to the rear of the door to which the door frame is attached. I think it would be safe to say that the bulkhead was fitted slightly back from the door and attached to that fuselage frame. Hope that helps, Cheers, Derek Yes I have seen some photos without this bulk head thats what made me question it, do you know if the Devon which is at Cosford had the seat arrangments similar to your diagram or did it have less seats with tables
Scaley
Sorry Kev, I haven't seen 952 myself, a friend sent me a couple of exterior shots. There doesn't appear to be a full complement of seats so maybe John Aero can help with the interior arrangement.... Cheers, Derek
kev67
Hi Kev,No worries, if I've got the info you need I'll be happy to pass it on. I think I need to keep a look-out for the Rareplanes kit myself..... Cheers, Derek I have finally took the plunge and I am going to detail the engine. So if you have anymore photos of the engine detail it would be appreciated, I know you sent me quite a few photos of the engine but have you any from the top as well, as I plan to have it fully exposed. Just a note, I have so far finished the front undercarriage passenger door and luggage door which I have scratch built, and finished the front wheel bay plus the wings, going to concentrate on the interior which again I will scratch build. I will post some photos soon. Edited December 21, 2009 by kev67
Scaley
Sorry Kev, those are the only engine photos I have. I could sort out some line diagrams from the service manual if you need extra detail. Cheers, Derek
xvtonker
Yes I have seen some photos without this bulk head thats what made me question it, do you know if the Devon which is at Cosford had the seat arrangments similar to your diagram or did it have less seats with tables With respect to a couple of points raised concerning the seat fixtures and cabin bulkhead, the RAF Devon C.2's based at RAF Wyton were always fitted with the bulkhead to provide a bit of privacy when using the toilet. Mind you, when you sat on the toilet you were looking directly out of the entrance door window, so if you were flying in formation with any other aircraft you certainly wouldn't have had any privacy whatsoever!! As for the floor fixing of the seats, the metal frames locked into floor brackets and the seats were secured with a 'pip' pin arrangement which could be easily unlocked to allow re-arrangement of the seats to change the cabin configuration. Also, the wing main spar ran through the cabin area. Cheers XVTonker

kev67
Thanks again, where did you get that cut away drawing from, it looks very interesting. I am starting to build the interior, if I can get this done the rest of the build should be alot easier, may add the bulk head where the toilet is and even add the toilet. Julien
I was stationed on DTVAS (Devon, Training & Visiting Aircraft Section) at RAF Wyton during the late 70's and we operated three Devon C.2's as part of the 207Sqn detachment.WB533, WB534 both had light grey interiors with light grey carpetting and seats, as per the Cosford beast. VP958, if I remember rightly, had the light grey interior and carpetting but blue leatherette seats. Hope this helps XV Tonker Wow, blue leatherette, was this the VIP one? Must admit after getting in the one at the dehaviland centre, ever for a larger chap like myself, still enough room. Quite suprising. Julien It was always used to transport certain high ranking RAF officers to various official functions, typically the Battle of Britai ball at Finnigley, and I remember that one very senior officer's wife always used to complain that the toilt seat needed painting!! To be honest, she must have been the only person who ever used it! I also remember we had spares in stores for the Devon's that had manufacturers lables showing 1947!!! kev67
Cheers, still trying to get hold of some photos of the top of the engine detail layout though. Funny enough just found this on ebay, but is it the top part or bottom part, and which way should it face. Edited January 8, 2010 by kev67
Work In Progress
Kev, that's looking really superb. I have often wondered whether to do a Dove or Devon via this route or by hacking up a Heron and you have just made my mind up - have found a Rareplanes kit on eBay and have whacked in a bid. kev67
was planning to do a Dove and Sea Devon, but if I do not win it I can wait. Do you know if Rareplans are still going, if they are they should re-release the Dove, as it is quite a good vacform kit. This particular model has been in my stash for about 15 years I think, or may be more, as I bought it new and cost me £4.99. Not sure when I get round to painting it what colours I am going to do though. The weather has halted my spraying as the electrics where I spray are not working. I think they must have called it a day: certainly no-one shows any current new stock, and they have no visible web presence. I wonder where the masters are? I wonder where the masters are? If memory serves, most if not all the Rareplanes catalogue transfered to Hannants after Gordon Stevens retired. Hannants kept the line going for a while - producing a few new kits, They also upgraded a few of the older kits, including the Dove, adding decals and changing the injection parts to white metal, I recall? Before deleting the catalogue. Marty... Edited January 8, 2010 by marty_hopkirk

jenshb
Going slightly off topic here, but I know the feeling!. I got told off by some "jobsworth" at Duxford when I had my head stuck up the nose wheel well of the Comet C2 taking detail photos In my experience, the staff at Duxford and the RAF Museum will allow you to take pics if you ask them for permission to cross the barriers and crawl under the aircraft. kev67
Finished most of the detail on the engine, temporary dry fit to make sure it fits ok, then I will add the rest of the pipes and other detail when the model is painted and completed (did not really need to detail the bottom section as this will not be seen)
Work In Progress
Don't worry is was not me I forgot all about it Wouldn't make any difference if it was - it's a free market and anyone can bid whatever they like, as far as I'm concerned: it's all good clean sporting fun. The engine detail is looking very splendid.
