I had that little kit until recently. I gave it away over at Swannys as a contest prize. I hope it comes out as nice as yours and, in fact, I believe I will direct the recipient to come on over and have a look at yours, Antoine.

And this teensy little bug is what you call a relaxing "between build?" ;)

That's nice of you, thanks, but I'm not giving lessons here, don't forget that it's a first try for me.

"Misery loves company," after all. It will be a good look in for the guy, I suspect.

Masking time, for the fuselage flag, and the fin flash.

ms_02810.jpg

Tamiya tape, and plastic film (The one you got in your kitchen).

White.

Then the red.

Blue...

The fin flash blue is a bit of a lighter shade, so just a drop of white straight in the airbrush.

Thanks.

Looking forward to it myself, but I dn't really know for the moment how to tackle it.

Fishing line, or plastic sprue?

Fishing line. its much stronger in itself and will add structural strength to the model.

Looks nice. Will you rig it?

Don't have any options but to do it, as I've already drilled some holes in the wings at the beginning.

Thanks Martin, I'll certainly have a go at it.

Got to go to the nearest decathlon soon!

Rigging session!

ms_04510.jpg

The tools:

- Fishing wwire, the thinnest that I've found at decathlon (A well known sport shop in France, maybe you've the same in UK?)

- Super thin cyano

- Plier (To place the wiring precisely)

- Clothes peg (You'll see why)

- Tooth pick (To apply cyano precisely)

ms_03810.jpg

As only have half a brain, I've forgot to drill some hole at the beginning of the build.

No choice but to drill them now...

ms_03910.jpg

Same here.

And this kind of kit is extremely fragile...

ms_04010.jpg

Quite hairy no???

Without eduard giving us a way to tie the wire, I've decided upon a buckle made of stretched sprue.

Why not?

ms_04110.jpg

Taking shape.

You see now how the clothes peg works.

I must admit that it doesn't work the first time, but I kept at it.

ms_04410.jpg

Same, seen for just under, to illustrate.

Sorry for the bad light, and bad pics, but I work in a rabbit hutch, and it's already late...

Thanks.

I think I'll not push my luck too far, and once the rigging is finished, I'll do only minor repairs, then varnish.

And if this step by step in bad english is usefull to at least only one person, then I'll be happy, target hit!!!

  • 2 weeks later...

Rigging finished.

I didn't prepared the kit enough before building and painting, and so I completely forgot to drill the holes needed for the tailplane rigging.

As the tailplane is very, very fragile (Nearly broke it two times today), and I don't want to push my luck too far, I'll stop here. After all it's only my first try at ww1 rigging.

Next stage are the last decals, very little weathering, and varnishing.

Maybe next weekend???
