Hypnobear
Hi One last question about this - I have printed my decals out on white paper and soon I'll be ready to add the Microscale, however last time I tried to add the Microscale, I think I added it a bit to thickly as the decals crinkled. Either that or they were left in a cold conservatory overnight. Can anyone shed any light onto what I did wrong please? Don't want to mess them up again! Thanks in advance
little-cars
I assume you are talking about microscale decal film over inkjet printed decals. It is very thick, but thins down when dry. If you are hand brushing put a thin coat on first, then one ot two thin coats to seal the ink in. On decal paper you can also airbrush a clear varnish over the decals. When you use the decals, be careful not to cut to close to the ink, or it can seap out. Out of interest what decal paper are you using ?

Just thought about that, and most decals I have made need to be cut right to the edge because of the white paper I'm using. If I just let the ink dry for several hours, wouldn't that stop the ink seeping out? Edited November 21, 2009 by NAKAJIMA15

Some claim to be watertight these days, but the reason you put the film over the decal is to stop the ink running. It also depends on the decal paper you are using, whose paper is it? Best advice is to try a sample decal and see. An alternative route is to print the coloured part of the decal on clear decal paper and cut out the roundal or back shape out of white decal, then apply both to the model.
