Phil @ Flory Models
Still one of my favourite Aircraft of all time, The Strike Eagle. This is Revells fine kit of the mud hen, No problems anywhere in the build and at £18 the best kit at that price. Kit decals used and went on a treat. More models coming very soon and a full build of the 1/72 Italeri Jaguar T2 Happy Modelling Phil
dswoofie
Oh yeah! That does look nice. Is there any aftermarket stuff there, or is that all kit parts? The cockpit and jet pipes look good. I like! I might just have to get one of them later on... Karl.

Thanks Karl, No, it's all out of the box It's a great kit better than the Hasegawa and Academy kits and a dream to put together.
rdxtnt
Nice Phil. Very nice Nozzles look good especially. Can anybody explain the phrase "mud hen" to me. I've never quite understood that one
Mentalguru
Thats REAAALLLY nice Phil! Which paint did you use- I'm interested to know. Many of the paints as available, always appear way too dark for my tastes, but yours looks just right. Well done mate.
GrahamEM
very nice, the wheel recess's are very small compared to the typhoon.
Bennygman
Can anybody explain the phrase "mud hen" to me. I've never quite understood that one I assume its 'mud Hen' as in 'mud-mover, i.e. a ground attack as opposed to a fighter variant. Sort of like a Tornado GR4 as opposed to an F3. Can't see pics at work Phil' but I'm sure it's a great job. Steve.
rdxtnt
very nice, the wheel recess's are very small compared to the typhoon. Looks like some of the doors retract again once the u/c is down. A bit like the Jag. It stops FOD from being thrown back up into the u/c bay by the wheels

I've never quite understood that one They say "MUD HEN" For the Air to Ground work the "E" type dose opposed to Eagle for the Single seat "C" air superiority Fighter. The fighters are known to the Strike Eagles as "Gray's" so you have "MUDS" and "GRAY'S" Thats REAAALLLY nice Phil!Which paint did you use- I'm interested to know. Many of the paints as available, always appear way too dark for my tastes, but yours looks just right. It's Vallejo Model Air 053 Dark Sea Green but I like all the model air range as they work with the light. In bright sun light it goes light Gray and in the house it's very dark grey. Phil @ Flory Models
Thanks for clearing that one up Phil........ and I thought hens were chickens Interesting use of the Vallejo Dark Sea green. Looks spot on to me. Don't be fooled with "Dark sea Gray" it's just Vallejo name for it, it's matched to FS36118 Gunship Gray. There is a good conversion chart here http://www.ttfxmedia.com/vallejo/cgi-bin/_...=1#modelairinfo Hope it helps

Great work as usual Phil. That's one of my favourite kit.
Alan P
Kit sounds great. Must have a look at one of those to add to my "grey aeroplane" collection - it would fit in nicely! Phil - another fine effort, how do you do it?!
jenshb
Really nice Phil - I think it captures the look of Strike Eagles very well - however, the belly and lower rear fuselage look fairly clean. In my experience, aircraft seem to get dirtiest behind the wheels and under the engines, so a little more leaks/dirt/discoloration here wouldn't go amiss... Stéphane
Hello Phil, really nice, as usual ... and spot on for the exhausts; just the rear deck grid (aft of the cokcpit) a tad too shiny, maybe, but I saw piccies that way, too, so .... a big bird, too Cheers Stef (#6)
Smiffy
Now that is nice. Most people tend to miss the different colour/shade on the nose cone on these birds. I heard its because its made of a material that fades quicker than the rest of the airframe, so you'll see some that have lighter noses or some that have been re-painted and are the original dark paint. I've had this kit, half finished since it originally came out (in fact mines in the Revell/Monogram Desert storm box), along with a set of Astra decals for LN birds. Just might have too dig it out. Anyhoo, bloody nice job.
hatchet
Fabulous BEagle Phil BTW, the Vallejo Gunship Grey I have is labelled as Dark Sea Green Oh, one little thing: the rails for the AIM-120s are incorrect, they should be LAU-12(7/8/9)s. WolvoWill
Looks a lovely build of a kit I always manage to completely ruin - always seem to have fit issues with the outer wing segments Always think the Beagle needs some weaponry to liven it up a bit, all over gunship grey has gotta be the blandest colour scheme ever invented....in the case of your bird though the subtle weathering helps break up the boredom though

That is what Revell envisioned when they molded the kit. I have an Academy "E" in the queue, but the boss doesn't know I'm planning on the Tornado; so I'll sneak and buy it and stash it for my next build. I'm not about to tell her though. I'll never hear the end of it, (don't you have enough already, the drill is always the same ) Also..........Some "E" drivers and fixers, refer to the "C" as albino's due to the color diff's in the E being darker. I can't imagine any self respecting EAGLE thinking the name mudhen is Ok

Bandwagon 106
Very nice Phil. This kit is excellent, I have about 6 to do, including a very rare Promodeller one which includes AIM-120s and GBU-10s and -15s. The Revell issue, which includes the Lakenheath Tiger Meet bird, can be bought for £15 at my LMS. I have seen them referred to as Beagles( for Bomber -Eagle), and Wart Eagles. Again, a fantastic finish. Joel
Phil @ Flory Models
Thanks for all the kind words guys There is more weathering on the underside then the photos show, it's about the same as the top but it's in a more brown and yellow colours but I have put a drop of Tamiya smoke in the grills in top to tone them down a bit. Takamota
That looks fantastic.. I've picked that kit up 3 or 4 times now and wondered about it.. Always thought the Hase and Tamiya would be better and put it back down... Think I'll get me a couple after seeing that. Top Building again Phil
