Kindest Regards, John. An excellent event that I attended last year, worth going just for the reduced admission price really, with the stalls an added bonus. I even got in the Vulcan last time. I'll be making my first trip to Telford this year, I'd be there otherwise. Dan

Mark M
well i actually made it and well im a bit disappointed to say the least, the aero jumble, didnt have a lot to offer, perhapse it was my expectations that were far out but i expected more modeling and reference stuff not lots and lots of switches, yep there were lots of old books, and some interesting aircraft bits i.e. bang seats but for the modler amongst us i was disapointed. but on a good note, me and my son got in the buc and the shakelton and got some good reference photos and talking to one chap there (at the buc i think) talked about the nimrod, as he understands it they are having problems getting the wings off as the bolts are seized in place!, he also confirmed the rumors i previously herd that a jag is on the way!, and of course i spent some cash at the shop!. my lad was a bit upset the vulcan wasnt open as he wanted to get in, but the buc made up for that
NAM Updater
Hello everyone, I’ve signed up to help add a bit of clarity to a couple of subjects that are doing the rounds. Sadly speculation about airframe acquisitions can lead to problems and has been known to potentially stop them happening – this was the case with the Saab Viggen a few years ago! Firstly regarding the possible Nimrod R1 acquisition; as of 8th November 2010 the official situation has not changed from the information that is clearly stated on the museum website i.e. “Newark Air Museum has been given to understand that a Nimrod R1 aircraft will be retired from operational service sometime before the end of this financial year and then potentially dismantled to be sold as scrap. Eager to see this historic and prestigious aircraft preserved instead, initial enquiries have already been made to the RAF into the possible acquisition of this aircraft for display in the Museum, once it has been officially deemed surplus to requirements. It is still too early for the MoD to make any commitment at this time and the exact cost has yet to be established, but we are confidently aspiring to purchase the complete aircraft sometime in 2010.” Jaguars – in the last 18 months the museum has allegedly been receiving a Jaguar on at least 4 separate occasions. I believe the latest Jaguar rumour started, following a recent visitors comment - “I know where I can get you a Jaguar T-Bird!” Whilst investigations have been made about this ‘airframe lead’, the airframe availability has not been confirmed or negotiations commenced. Aeroboot – sadly there was not as much model content this time round possibly due to the clash with the IPMS Nationals; sadly whenever you arrange a date you always seem to clash with something. Hopefully the balance might be redressed at future events. Finally thanks to John and Tony for ‘flying the flag’ for Newark on here in recent months; I will endeavour to keep the Forum up to speed with ‘confirmed information’ as and when it becomes available. Regards

NAM Updater
Thank you for the welcome Mark! No problem with comments about the Aeroboot - we're always keen to learn and get new ideas / thoughts from people. At yesterday's event we were getting feedback from the stallholders and a brief mention is made here! So if you have any thoughts please share them with us. You might have also seen the Visitor Survey forms in the cafe or shop, which are a big part of deciding what goes into the new Visitor Centre project. Again all feedback is noted and considered. Personally I can't really understand why people should expect models to be at an aerojumble (though it is a nice bonus when they are!). I frequent autojumbles and expect to find stuff related to REAL cars and motorbikes, not plastic models...Why should an aerojumble be any different? Mike
aboard NAM Updater (do you have a real name too? ). I love the museum for the record, and had a trip over recently when I was in Derbyshire for a few days. Keep up the good work, and it'll be great to have some updates on new acquisitions and events direct from the horse's mouth
NAM Updater
In fairness there is often a high model kit content amongst the sellers, but I guess this was reduced by the Nationals. However there's always lots of bargains to be had here! Mike - it's Howard! Edited November 10, 2009 by NAM Updater

NAM Updater
Thanks for the further welcomes, where to start? Mark – good man on that spending profile; it might be worthwhile considering museum membership, which does provide a good discount on Shop purchases; details here http://www.newarkairmuseum.org/membership.htm but don’t look too closely at the header picture (I'm on the right with my mouth open!) Also did you spot the orange chinagraph comment on the Engineers panel in WR977, which reads “Shacks are wonderful, in their own way”, there’s more about WR977 here http://www.airsceneuk.org.uk/oldstuff/2007...shack/shack.htm Tony – when we last spoke you lamented the loss of the 360 degree tour inside XM594, try this link http://www.panoguide.com/gallery/554/ John – haven’t you got a Chipmunk or Stirling to be sorting out? Regards, Howard

Regards, Howard ive been thinking about joining for a while now, i amy have to do so after the wife lifts her ban on buying anyomre bits of plastic! (please dont tell her i have bought a nimrod) whilst on that subject, my plan to build it as a gulf bird is rapidly falling through, so as a back up, which airframe have 'you' got eyes on i may have to make that one (?seriel numbers) regards mark
NAM Updater
All of the speculation has been centred on Nimrod R1 XW665, but nothing has been agreed on any specific airframe.

NAM Updater
They might not be Tony - this was the company that did the pictures http://www.360panoramics.co.uk but the tours are not listed on their site. The previous link was to a web forum and I think that you could still download the Vulcan tour from there.
