smuts
Hi guys, I've got one of the Olfa circle cutters & was wondering if there's one that will produce a circle smaller then 20 mil Dia made by Olfa or another manufacturer? Andy.
Notdoneyet
Andy, I'm not aware of any. However you can get the Olfa to cut circles of less than 10mm by filing down the inner surface of the sliding part (the bit that holds the point) so that it can close closer to the blade. AnonymousA667
How about getting hold of a good old fashioned spring bow compass with an ink attachment? It could be modified into a blade and you'd be able to cut pretty small circles. peebeep
Deanflyer
You could always do what I've done - a strip of masking tape over the right sized hole in a scribing template and cut round against the metal edge with a sharp pointed blade: It works best if you need a hole rather than a circle, as sometimes you get a slightly ragged bit on the edge where you start cutting. If you need the circle bit, cut two and position them one on top of the other so that the ragged bit of one is covered by the round bit on another. I used it successfully to mask the curve at the top of a 1/48 Spitfire windscreen: and the grey circle of the vision panel on my Canberra: Hope that helps, Dean
