Jabba Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Time to start the next one. This is the ICM MiG-25PD, with the linden Hill decal sheet, and a little help from their book on Iraqi fighters. The kit is a little basic especially in the cockpit department, but not much can really be seen through the windows anyway, but it is the best on the market.
Rampage55 Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Interesting build, I've always thought the Foxbat was a mean looking jet. Cheers, Mark
FZ6 Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Look forward to seeing progress on this one. The Mig 25 is one of my favourite soviet aircraft.
Mike Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Dammit! Now I want one of these too Are the rumours about the dimensional accuracies correct then?
Antoine Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Are the rumours about the dimensional accuracies correct then? What are you talking about, Mike? From what I've heard, it is maybe the best 1/72 model of the -25, better than Condor's. Am I wrong?

That is what I heard, but I am having a little bit of difficulty with the rear half of the fuselage as there are about 13 pieces to put it together and some of them fit where they touch. On the other hand I am making a twin sticker that is the Condor one and it ahs less parts for that area and goes together better. So I think that it is pays your money that your pick. Photos will follow in the next day or so.

Jabba Posted October 15, 2009 Author Posted October 15, 2009 Her are some photos of how I have got on so far. The first two are of the Condor twin sticker, it will be in Ukraine markings. The others are of the build for the GB. The last photo shows a close up of the fuselage sides. There are two parts to the side and is a little difficult to lineup correctly especially as the back part contains the fin and ventral fin set at the correct angles. This has resulted in a slight gap between the two which a little filler should cure. Hopefully I shall have the front part joined to the back by the next update. Another good thing about the Condor model is that the wing angle is also set due to a large tab being with the lower fuselage.
Jabba Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 A qiuck update as to how this one is going. Sorry there have not been any earlier but the prep for the Nationals and the repairs afterwards took a bit longer than expected. The nose part of the fuselage is now added to the rear. For some reason I got a big gap on the top. I don't know how this occurred as the rest of the nose part fitted correctly, so it was filled with a 40 thou piece of plasticard, cut down to size and then filled. Just a bit of sanding to do before the wings and intakes are fitted.
AnonymousFO98 Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Coool! never realised the profile was so curved before keep up the good work Jabba
Jabba Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 Havn't forgotten about this one. As you can see the wings and intakes have been added. Thisis turning into a bit of a pig of a kit after the Condor two seater. I had a bit of a battle to get the intakes into position, and the wings were just as much fun as one side fitted perfectly, whilst the other had to be hacked a bit to get it to sit right. As you maybe able to make out a lot of filler has been used especially at the rear end of the intake joints. Still further and upwards as the missile pylons are being added so not too far from painting now.
Mark M Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 looks good JABBA cant wait to see it finished
Jabba Posted December 8, 2009 Author Posted December 8, 2009 A quick update. Model is now complete and awaiting paint.
AnonymousFO98 Posted December 9, 2009 Posted December 9, 2009 Coming along nicely Jabba looking forward to seeing some paintwork on her- keep up the good work
Jabba Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 Here we are all painted with a coat of clear waitng for the decals, which will hopefully go on in the next couple of days. Then it will be into adding on all the smaller bits.
Jabba Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 The decals have now been put on along with a few coats of matt varnish. I have been having a few problems with this kit of late, one being the matt varnish as it wanted for some reason to be gloss, even though the jar had been shaken and stirred well. The other is that when I was trimming things so that the engines would fit, I managed to put several very dark finger prints in various places, which I have just about recovered. Hopefully the final bits will be put on over the next few days (headache permitting).
Jabba Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) Now complete. Edited January 5, 2010 by Jabba
