Echelon Lightning F6 in 1/32nd

Recommended Posts

..another old kit (looking at earlier pic's posted on ARC at the time (I think) it seems I started this back in January 2006...

Every so often I do a bit more...here's the latest update....

Plan is to finish her as XR770/"AA" of 5 Sqn ca 1985-7 just before the unit disbanded. I have the Signal Red on - so I'll mask that up and get the Barley Grey and Alclad out...

..a bit Aris* about boat race** I know, but I thought I'd add a few pic's to illustrate how i got to where I am in the pic's in the earlier post - so here goes....

IMHO the Echelon Lightning (and their Hunters) were up there with the best Vac-form/Multi media kits. Its hard to believe that they were produced 20+ years ago!

I also purchased the Flightpath set and I used parts of this to enhance the cockpit and Ejection Seat. The pic's below should all be self explanatory, but if you want to ask about anything then please do!

Does Look nice so far Bill.

Have you been able to compare with Trumpy?

Adrian

Only via photo's Adrian - The Echelon kit IS very accurate, problem is its availabilty!!! Despite its faults the Trumpy Lightning IS readily available , and it looks like a Lightning - which will please the vast majoity of modellers - though not necessariy this modeller!! I may get one one day and see if I can do a repair job on it. Far too many rivets on the Trumpy kit for my liking!!!!! :innocent:

Hi Bill like me you are a big Lightning fan and especially the Echelon offering when it first appeared I'd never tackled a vacform but there was no way that was going to stop me getting one. In the end over the years I must have made at least 10 models. here's a photo i took many years ago and as you can see XR770 with the red fin and spine. Hope your's turn's out OK bill I will watch with great interest.

Thats a great line up there!!! I think my Echelon F6 may take some time to complete - I've just starting to look at how to make corrections to the Trumpy F6 - started to drill some holes already!! I'll do another In Progress U suppose......

Hi Chris, Thinking about dabbling in a bit of "N" gauge myself!! You must get a Lightning to build - they're GREAT!!!!
