Dave Fleming
The prototype A380, F-WWOW did a 'tour' of the Uk today, so the boy and I nipped over to Edinburgh to see it. Rotten day for photographs, and I couldn't get close enough, so these are very cropped!! First we went to the North side and saw it do an approach over the city then a high flyby over the airport (I'd say about 1500 feet). It was VERY quiet for such a large aircraft. At that point, everyone though that was it, so we all jumped into our cars and headed off, however as we drove east, I noticed it turned and also heading East down the Forth. Guessing it was coming in for a closer look, I headed to the south of the airport and we managed to watch it do an approach and go on the main runway. Luke enjoyed himself, and said to his mum on return 'I like aeroplanes now!' - Success!!! NB Unusually for Edinburgh there was a 747SP there today as well - N747A Edited September 5, 2009 by Dave Fleming
JosephLalor
Saw it myself yesterday as it was on approach to Filton, and it was an impressive sight. My bedroom window faces southwest towards the east end of 09/27, about 3/4 of a mile away. There seems to have been a fair amount of Hercules activity there as well.
