Dave Fleming
Anyone tried to see if the Spitfire fuselage spine designed for the Fujimi mk XIV would fit the Heller mk XVI? http://www.quickboost.net/Obrazky/72154b.jpg I know, I could use the spine from another kit (I have several Airfix mk Is left over from Aeroclub conversions in the 8s) but I'm feeling lazy!! Nigel Bunker
I haven't tried but looking at the picture, I expect it would work though some fettling & filler might be needed. Edited August 31, 2009 by Nigel Bunker
The wooksta V2.0
The question should be why would you want to? The Hasegawa IX isn't that bad a kit and neither is the KP one, even if it's not the easiest of kits to assemble. The Airfix IX isn't that far off either (he says crossing fingers...). Anyway, you've still got to fix the radiators (too deep for Merlins), find a canopy and add the longer wingtips. Frankly, it's better using it as a low back VIII (with mods), IXe or XVIe. I'll happily take those Mk I fuselages off your hands Dave if you want to make a donation!
Dave Fleming
I found a spare Heller kit at the weekend (from the 90s/00s, but in black plastic!!).
