RAF Sabre F4

Recommended Posts

As we're dusting down some old models!!!! Here's one I built this one six or seven years ago - it the Academy kit in 1/48th. The 3 Sqn markings were made from parts of pre-painted decal sheets - this was before many commercial decals were available for 1/48th scale RAF Sabre F4's....

Thats a very nice Sabre...well done! I`ve always liked 3 Sqn markings, especially on the Sabre.

Hope you don`t mind me adding some `dusted off' models and hogging the forum somewhat? I just thought that there needed to be some new models to see as the same ones had been here for a while now.........plus I`ve been housebound for over a week and bored and finally worked out Photobucket to boot!

Cheers

Don't bother me Tony - you dusting off models! Why would it? Go for it I say.....in fact I think we should have a section on here for "old models just dusted off!!"

There's some corkers out there - as we've seen...

Very nice Bill. I always thought the Sabre was a very nice looking aeroplane and you've done it justice.

I'd like to have a go at doing an RAF Sabre, but I know its a bit of a minefield and I have to dive into the research first!

Good news is that there are a few bod's on here that know their Sabre's, so you'll have a head start!!

I've a couple of Sabre projects in the offing (as well as my 1/72nd scale project currently "In Progress!. These include a Hasegawa F4 in 1/48th and a Kinetic F4 in 1/32nd...

Should keep me busy over the next year or so!!

I looked at the box of the Italeri/Kinetic 1/32nd Sabre kit but the £40 price tag put me off despite the 112 Sqn sharks mouth on the decal sheet!

Is it me or are Italeri kits rather expensive at the moment?

The Kinetic boxing is a good £8 or £9 cheaper.....no RAF markings - but I can get around that! Though..is £40 expensive for a 1/32nd scale kit? I dunno.......

That is rather umm nice Bill :)

Nice skills of making before AM available.

I have the 4 sets of (can't remember) RAF Sabres and this makes me think 'get on with it then'

Interesting that you used the Academy '86. Got a couple of them as well as some Hase ones.

Now once I get my 8 TSR2's out the way!
