tonyp
Hi All, I was wondering if any kits were made of the heston Phoenix. As there were only 6 built in the 1930s I doubt it. Although thought I would ask. Thanks in adance. Tony
The wooksta V2.0
Possibly a resin kit by a Belgian manufacturer called Dujin. He seems to have specialised in micey one off 30s stuff. Hannants ony have the Heston Racer listed in stock. http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=DUA72219 Quite tempted with one of those. Duijin doesn't make resin kits anymore, I believe. It was a one-man operation. He had about 300 kits in his range. Hannants ony have the Heston Racer listed in stock.http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=DUA72219 Quite tempted with one of those. I bought one a couple of weeks ago. Very overpriced, but the only way of getting this aircraft in 1/72. This is what you get for your £22: The transfers are very, very bad. The above image is of the large serial to go across the wings. The resin is bubbly, the wheel bays are full of unwanted bits of resin, and the interior is not that extensive (and inaccurate). The floor should be sloping. The radiator intake has no detail- I have opened ir up, and will be scratch building a lot of internals.
The wooksta V2.0
Thanks for the photo. Even more tempted with it now, would be a rather fast fighter for the RAF! As for the quality, having built one or two Dujin kits, it doesn't suprise me in the least but it's Tamigawa quality compared to anything by Unicraft! It's my first all-resin model, so I was a little shocked! If you want a good reference, this cut-away that was published in the 1970's is a good one: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment....hmentid=1134729 Ignore those computer renders in that radio control forum- I don't think they are very accurate. I plan to try using aluminium foil for creating the polished spinner and exhausts (should be fun!).
Simon M.
The best stock of Dujin kits at the moment seems to be Sharkit. I have placed two orders in the past few years and found them excellent to deal with. http://renax.club.fr/sharkit/Dujin/DujinCatalog.pdf Don't see a Phoenix though. Sorry to hear Dujin is out of business. I had always hoped he would do an Etendard VI. Can't see anyone else doing one.
NZKIWI
Not the Pheonix but there is another option for the Racer in 1/72 and that is the old Airframe vacform which occasionaly comes up on Evilbay .
The wooksta V2.0
Yes, but be prepared to pay your eyes, the sockets, and other more delicate parts too. Rare vacforms tend to go for stupid money these days.
