Dave Fleming
This is PRIII X4501, which made an emergency landing inFair Isle in 1941, having suffered an engine failure. But what do we think of the colour scheme? It's either Sky overall or pink (if you beleive that colour was used on PRU aircraft) but look at the roundels - C on the upper wing in 1941? http://www.fairisle.org.uk/Latest/2007.htm
John
I'm not so sure the airframe is as light as it first appears, note how light the tailwheel tyre and the rear of the prop blades look - I think its a bit overexposed. I agree about the roundels though, interesting! John Edit - looking at the roundels again, they seem very pale too. davidelvy
Looks like the sun is reflecting off the upper surfaces, so it may appear lighter than it really was.

thx6667
I played around with that pic in Photoshop, she seems to only have a roundel on the starboard upper wing? Also it looks like a field-modification of a B-type wing.
Dave Fleming
Light colours are not unusual for an RAF PR aircraft in 1941 (Although the jury is still out as to whether these were Sky or Pink - I tend to go with Sky- need to check when PRU blue came in) - records suggest that the aircraft lay on Fair Isle for a few weeks before recovery; It could have faded in the Scottish summer, July and August being the hottest months in those lattitudes
