Antoine
Got it from Blast models today, for 67€. I was after this conversion since at least two years. Now its time to get some documentation about this tank. I'm nearly sure that it will be as difficult as getting the conversion itself, and any help will be appreciated. If anyone is interested, I can make an overall review of the box wth pics. Just ask, and give me a little time! Happy Frenchman here!!!
Geoff_B
Try IPMS South Africa, as their members gallery had a detailed walk around of the Oliphants. The Baxmodels conversion actually has a photo CD and unit decals, but theres is a little harder to find.
Mike
Wow! What is that thing? Any chance of a bit of history of the beast?
Antoine
In short, and to my knowledge, this is the main SADF MBT from the 60's/70's/80's era, based on the Centurion, or most precisely on the Israeli sho't or sho't kal version of this tank. It was used extensively during the bush war in the 70's/80's, to counter the T-55 threat. Some pics here on primeportal.
andym
Definately register at the IPMS South Africa for their gallery, it has all the pictures you need, I found it a great reference when building mine. The Cromwell kit is pretty darn accurate, the only thing you'll need to add is the mesh over the rear hull side air inlets and a few other minor details such as supports for the fenders etc, the pics on the SA website will make what is needed clear. Biggles
Got mine from Cromwell Models couple of days ago (took 5 days from sending the cheque (yes cheque - remember them?) to arrival - not bad, methinks) Thanks for the IPMS link - hadn't found that before Now all I have to do is find a superglue that actually sticks the models bits to each other rather than to me/the carpet/the cat etc.
