Dads203
Weathering of the running gear, Mig pigments thinned with thinner for washes was applied around the running gear, I used Mig dark mud and dry mud thinned right down, whilst the thinners were still drying some black oil paint was dotted around some of the details and left to dry over night. The wheels and tracks are next. I've primed the tracks with Vallejo track primer which I'll add a nice dusty pigment mix. Drive sprocket was painted with Vallejo oily Steel to show the polished teeth. Exhaust was darkend using black oils and Mig black pigments. AnonymousFY21
Stunning Dan, that is really begining to look the part. The generally tatty look of the paint is awesome, and so realistic mate. rich
Mike
Very streaky.... I think the ones on the right hand side of the glacis plate might be a bit in-yer-face though... unless your wonderful camera is over-emphasising them?

I think the ones on the right hand side of the glacis plate might be a bit in-yer-face though... unless your wonderful camera is over-emphasising them? Your right on both counts Mike, I'll need to tone them down a bit. Not as bad in the flesh but still noticable. Dan

Dads203
Once again thanks for the comments, No progress in the last couple of weeks due to a new job. Back in April I was laid off from work, all to do with the current economic downturn, so 3 months later I'm now working on a new contract for Ericsson in Hatfield, so It will be while before I get the Warrior finished. I'll post some new pix this weekend, a small amount of work was done on the beast before I departed which hasn't been seen yet. Mike
...and having seen it now in the flesh, I'd say the camera did a good job of over-exposing the streaking, as it's not that stark to the Mk.1 eyeball. Have you fixed all the starling damage yet?

I'll patch up the damage this weekend Mike, the Warrior wasn't too bad but the PT-76 took alot of damage after being knocked onto the floor, might take a few weekends to fix. Need to find something to cover over the chimney to stop my feathered friends from getting into the house and trashing everything. Mike
Need to find something to cover over the chimney to stop my feathered friends from getting into the house and trashing everything. One of them woven wire baskets, or a pot one, although my vote would be for the wire ones as they're less likely to blow off in strong winds. Who'd have thought that a Starling could be so cruel to a man's models? Perhaps a reincarnated ex-wife of one of our members?
AntPhillips
Great news on the job front Dan, even if it does drag you away from the modelling bench for awhile.
Dads203
Well a very small update, both tracks have been painted and pigmented, hopefully tonight I'll get around to painting the track pads. But i've just walked in the door from a long drive back from Hatfield and Reading The worn steel was done by a graphite pencil, kindly obtained from Mike. Once both tracks are on the the top run will be glued to the top rollers and the track guards fitted. Regards Dan

Dads203
Cheers Guys, Progress is slow at the moment due to work but you'll be glad to know that the bird strike damage is now fixed. I'm hoping to get some work done this coming weekend and finish the Warrior so I can can crack on with finishing another part build I have in the stash Regards Dan Edited July 20, 2009 by Dads203
Mike
bird strike... I thought that was just a problem for fast jets? Bird panic would probably have been closer to the mark. How's the PT-76 coming along? You said that took the worst of the Starling's wrath
Dads203
bird strike... I thought that was just a problem for fast jets? Bird panic would probably have been closer to the mark. How's the PT-76 coming along? You said that took the worst of the Starling's wrath The good news is that all the damaged kits are all fixable with minimal effort. Most of the PT-76 is now back together now Mike, just the spotlight and spare track links to add to the turret. Didn't have enough time at the weekend to fix everything on the PT-76 as I spent some time fixing the Warrior. Not taking anymore chances with stray birds in the house, the workshop door is closed all the time when i'm away. Regards Dan
