Mike Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 i too am amazed at your speed mate I can go slow too... The Skyshark with the massive prop took me best part of a year (there's a thread somewhere), as did the Scimitar I finished recently. The Valiant took about 3 years overall - including a 2 year hiatus while I recovered from the trauma of the build

The Skyshark with the massive prop took me best part of a year (there's a thread somewhere), as did the Scimitar I finished recently. Mike Posted May 22, 2009 Author Posted May 22, 2009 really like that Skyshark I did too... so I bought another one when I finished the first
Mike Posted May 23, 2009 Author Posted May 23, 2009 Oooh... heck... I've only gawn and finished, haven't I? I used the Mig washes for the panel lines, some Xtracrylix buff for the mud on the gear bay doors, Mig Abteilung oils & pigments for the grime, and some Tamiya smoke with a bit of NATO brown added for the exhaust staining. The whip antenna is a toothbrush bristle, the pitots have been made from Scale Calibre steel tubing, and the retraction struts were scratch-built with my own fair hands. I'll post up more pics when I get chance, but here's one to be going on with: Now what? 3
stringbag Posted May 23, 2009 Posted May 23, 2009 Now what? How about the Swift or an Attacker, and carry on with the Supermarine theme? Impressed with the Seafang. Nice one!!!! Chris.
Doug Rogers Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Nice job Mike, I like the way you've repositioned all of the control surfaces, gives it a more dynamic appearance.
Darius at Home Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Blimey - I haven't even started mine yet!!! Very nice work indeed Mike - looks wonderful. Darius

stringbag Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 I've got a Swift, but haven't got an Attacker... I'd really like one now too Are you hinting Williams? The Falcon vac-form and the Classic Airframes IM offerings are both nice kits. Chris.
Mike Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 I'm always hinting Chris... if anyone's got one they want rid of, come see me Proper finish pics here. Thanks for watching
Paul Bradley Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 (edited) Nice one, Mike! Edited May 24, 2009 by Paul Bradley
JosephLalor Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Some cracking work so far Mike. I can't help thinking that spinner looks odd though, too long somehow Jen. The Silver Cloud Seafang kit came with two front spinners of different lengths. Joseph
Mike Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 The Silver Cloud Seafang kit came with two front spinners of different lengths.Joseph That's right... one has 5 holes for the 5 bladed prop, The other has 2 rows of 3 for the contra-prop
Romeo Alpha Yankee Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Lovely work Mike, you knocked that over in quick time!
p-26luvr Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 Mike I just came across both the build article & finished pictures , much better late than never. A really super job with the model. And what a great , thoroughly instructive combined write-up & photographic lesson on vacform making. I'll be recomending reading it to my friends that are interested in doing a vacform model. THAN KS for the posting. Carl T
palacefan Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 I think this is the first model i have seen of yours Mike, and what a great model it is. Very clean yet realistic

I've done a fair few models now, so I can't really claim to be a newbie modeller anymore Here's a few others, in case you were thinking I'm an armchair modeller http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29843 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...st&p=257837 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2003 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24815 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=24634 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1764 Tanks: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32212 http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=29196

I can see by the dates that they were all finished while i was having a break from internet modelling, thats why i hadnt seen them before. Even the famous Valiant is complete, im impressed.
Mike Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Cracking job, very nice clean build. Thanks for the necro-praise
