Mike
I've been looking for a startingh color to begin painting the Abrams, and I've found a couple of FS numbers, but they don't seem to have any equivalent in any well known paint ranges, which is odd. Closest I've come is Tamiya Buff, and Xtracrylix RAF Hemp, which doesn't strike me as being quite right Can anyone help out?

HTH, Ian That'll teach me to ask questions when I'm not sat in front of my paint rack! I have a bottle of that very brew in my collection (along with every other Xtracrylix bottle they do). Paul Brickles
You might want to check out the following as well - nice to represent some replaced side armour with green to break up the scheme here

Committed to my HD for later reference. The rusted up heat deflector from the turbine was particularly useful... that should prove fun to paint
BadCop
You might want to check out the following as well - nice to represent some replaced side armour with green to break up the schemehere There are some interesting pics of what looks like a field mod to several M1A2s adding a section of armour below the regular skirt covering the gap between the 1st and 2nd road wheels. Reactive armour blocks maybe? They also have the TUSK package shield for the loaders position.

They look almost like concrete blocks suspended on some applique metal bar supports welded or bolted to the skirts
