Hiya Blimp,

Boy all better now - he got a bad rash and very hot - worried at one point that it might have been meningitis - scary - but turned out to be slap cheek (parvo virus) - which he then gave to his dad! Bless him ;)

What is it about toddlers? As I type this he's just back from nurse as he fell over at Grandmas yesterday and bashed his head!

We're not abusing him - honestly!

Hi all,

Apologies - long-time - no updates...

Really don't think this will be anywhere near done by close of GB - as many will know we've had a family crisis in recent weeks - plus we've now also got the builders in for a bit of major work at home.

Getting any model out, let alone the Ju-52, is simply off the radar at present...

Maybe in time for the Nationals...

When I pick up again we'll post under the general 'work in progress forum.

Good luck for the next few weeks to all the SCW Group Builders - I'll try and chip in occasionally :)

Hi Iain

Although the build will by necessity have to go into the WIP thread, i would still like to post pics of the finished work in the SCW GB gallery.

I know the usual conditions are that the work needs to be completed by the deadline but in view of the very unfortunate circumstances i think an exception should be made. Is this acceptable to everyone else?

The poll and prize draw will have to go ahead as normal, and sadly Iain won't be eligible for them.

and would great to see you chipping in again Iain when and if you can!

Tonight I have been working on panels of the instrument variety - first progress in nearly 2 months...

Blimp made me do it... :hobbyhorse:

More kitchen to build this w/e - but will see if I can get panel done and some pix up.

Stop heckling at the back you lot... :deadhorse:

No - we're not there yet - and you should have gone before we left Tigger! ;)

Some 'progress' made - albeit slow.

Promise to post something by the w/e - and if I get enough of the kitchen done on Sat - I *may* even bring her to Yate :)

However - home/family situation still in a state of flux - so won't know until the day.

Leather 'safety pad' above cockpit door - made from Milliput this will affix to the cockpit bulkhead behind the seats. Basic 'brown leather' which will be 'distressed later.

Leather seat cushions - pilot and co-pilot

All for now folks - move along now...

Have fun :)

And something else to ponder on - converting three Williams Brothers Pratt and Whitney Wasps to look like the BMW units (licence built Hornets IIRC?)

BMW 132 - licence built 'Hornet'

ah , BMW 132a's Iain , just paint 'em black . all over , the exhausts were a burnt stainless colour . if you want to go totally mental you can paint the BMW logo on the carb intake (the odd bit at the bottom) :P

Erm - was going to print the BMW logos on the ALPS printer :)

Looks like the most noticeable change will be positioning/angles of the push rods and where they enter the crank case front cover...

Were all 132As all black?

Mmm , good question . the photo's of german civil (DLH) and military engines i've seen all seem to indicate a black finnish . modern 'restored' or museum exhibits are a different kettle of fish !

Blimp's been a *very* naughty boy and has sent me links to some real hard core Ju-52 porn - which is stirring things that haven't been stirred in a while on this one...

The ventral dustbin - stripped bare!

And then - the Junkers centrefold of '39 - only the bl**dy Tech Manual!

Blimp - you're a bl**dy star - again!

OK...

Cutout for ventral gun opened out (surface will be skinned later once internal detail added - trap door above will be shut). Spars lined up and bonded in place with various grades of superglue.

Vents blanked off internally and floor fitted in place...
