Lancaster questions

OK people. I have the new Tamiya Lancaster in my grubby mitts. The problem is i cant make up my mind what to do. I like the needle props , but i also like the unshrouded exhausts. The other part is the smooth tyres. Did all wartime Lancasters have the smooth tyres? I like Piccadilly Princess but that has the paddle props according to the instructions. Did any of the Lancasters have smooth tyres , needle props and unshrouded exhausts?

Thanks

You could try asking your question here: http://lancaster-archive.com/forum/

You'll doubtless know that the shrouds were there to conceal the glow emitted by the hot exhausts, so you're unlikely to see a Lancaster used "in anger" during the war years without them, unless, for example it was being serviced.

Very late war Lancs had unshrouded exhausts,i.e 1945.The one that I'm doing,RF141/Uncle Joe Again of 463 Sqn didn't have shrouds fitted.

She was with 463 from January to October 1945,has smooth tyres but paddle bladed propellers.

Pretty much all wartime Lancs had smooth tyres.

The best advice I can give you is to search and search until you find the subject with the requirements you want

and as Max say's here http://lancaster-archive.com/forum/ is a very, very good place to start.
