AV O
After viewing tonyot's pictures of his Loft and Cellar, we could judge and compare the sizes of some of them. A few members were amazed by the size of some airplanes. Here are some shots of milestones with their contemporaries : SK 37 Viggen (Heller) / Jaguar International (Hasegawa) Kfir Prototype (Hasegawa) / MiG-21 (KP) F-14A (Hasegawa - early mold) / F-11 Tiger (Hasegawa) FIAT G-91Y (Matchbox) / RF-84F (Italeri) Kfir Prototype (Hasegawa) / Mirage IIIB (Matchbox) MiG-21 (KP) MiG-25 & Tomcat (Hasegawa) MiG-29UB (Italeri) / F-14A A7-E Corsair II (Fujimi) / F-3 Demon F-11 Tiger / F-3 Demon (Emhar) F-4D (Monogram) / Buccaneer (Airfix) Kfir (Hasegawa) / Buccaneer (Airfix) F-106 Delta Dart (Hasegawa) / Mirage IV (Heller) F-11 Tiger / Mirage F-1C (Hasegawa) F-15E (Hasegawa - early mold) / YF-22 (Italeri) YF-23 / F-15E / YF-22 YF-23 / F-117 / YF-22 (Italeri) B-58 Hustler (Testors-Italeri) / SK 37 Viggen B-58 Hustler / MiG-21 B-58 Hustler / F-106 Delta Dart GOBC Edited March 16, 2023 by AV O
AnonymousFO98
nice collection AV O the one that surprised me the most was the Demon - i assumed it to be smaller unless the CorsairII is a lot smaller than i imagined! Mig29 seems smaller than i thought too
AFCBGeorge
Good thread, I have to say, I think you should compare some of the sizes of these to an old prop or two. Having only ever built WW2 props before I was astonished when I saw the size of the Nighthawk kit I recently completed.

Alan P
I knew the Dart was a biggy, but next to the Hustler it looks massive! Have you got a 1/72 B777 lying around??

Thanks for the size comparison AV O, it certainly is interesting to see a few of these (most of which I don't have a model of myself!) side-by-side.

Your wish has been granted ! Here they are : (Hasegawa 1/72nd) Together with smaller ones, not to say tiny : Alouette (Skylark) lll (Heller) Gazelle (Airfix) The Gazelle seems so small, You may appreciate the Mil-4 Hound's size. (Toga) Looking like a Whirlwind (Airfix), but as big as an S-58 or a Wessex (Italeri) Next to a Puma (Airfix-Heller) Bye now !!! AV O
This Chinook was a "Special" issue by Revell, with a large "NEW" advertising and a "Super Decal" title in different languages. At the opening, I could only cry, realising it was the Matchbox kit. Then the "Super Decal" (the black and red stripe) turned into a nightmare as it was too short and the window holes were not where they should have been ! So, I just had to pull out masking tape and use patience... and paint !!! I must say that from that time, I pay attention in reading every thing on the labels, even the tiniest writing. Most of the time, It teaches you a lot. Of course, you cannot see this when you buy through mail or internet. A Revell kit made in Japan, or made in Italy gives you the origin of the kit, (the latest example is the BAe Lightning Mk.6 from Revell, which is obviously Hasegawa's), as for an Italeri made in Russia or Moldova. Airfix and Heller were molded in the same factory in France. It just says so on the packages. It must have been easy to put the parts in either box (Corsair A-7E / Mirage F-1) !!! Bye now. charley420
I was surprised how big the century series jets were. The mirage and f106 look mighty similar from above don't they.
AV O
Yes, they are ! However, the F-106 was an interceptor and ran on one big engine. The Mirage IV was a nuclear bomber, running on two smaller engines and we can assume that she was almost certainly bound for a one way trip only !
