Mandrake
Earlier in the year Trumpeter released a new mould 1/144 XXIII Type XXIII U-Boat #5907 I picked it up and have to say was very impressed. In my opinion an improvement on the ICM kit although it does cost almost double! However before I started it I noticed that Trumpeter are due to release another boxing labelled "late production": Type XXIII U-Boat (Late Production) #5908 So my question is what were the difference in production between the inital/early models and the late models? I am aware of some slight variations to the conning tower however in the initial boxing Trumpeter provided three different conning towers. Not uncommon to plan ahead for a reboxing but the inital boxing already has instructions covering all three. Additionally there were heavy post war modification to some examples but that can hardly be called late production. Any thoughts?
