Revell 1:32 Martlet

Recommended Posts

Well here she is finished at long last. What started out as possibly my best build ever, went down hill rapidly with cock up after cock up (Ok I know thats about normal for our Bexy :bleh: ) However, I learned alot with this build, namely dont trust Revells Instruction booklets as far you can throw them, preferably in the bin

I had a complete nightmare with the invasion stripes, they just wouldnt play ball, and I also used Phil Florys Wash differently from how I would normally, I left it over night and wipe off with a small sponge instead of kitchen towel......... I think it looks good, but, what do you guys reckon to it (as Im not used to building ProppyThingys  )

I hope you like it, because, all said and done, Im actually quite proud of this one................ (and its not a Phantom :yikes: )

Build thread HERE

Any comments ala Bexy (ie Good, Bad or just plain Sarcastic) graciously accepted.

Thanks both :thumbsup2:

Rick,

Topside I used Humbrol 165 MSG, and Revell Matt 45.

Well Bexy you have educated me on two points!!!, firstly that the RN flew Martlets and that you are a dab hand at whirly prop thingys too :D .

Still hate you for being able to brush paint like you do :worthy::worthy:

All my best,

JB.

She looks really great, Bexy, and what you did with the wash has worked really well. Another fine addition to the Bexy ceiling decoration.

Nice build Bex! She certainly looks like she's seen a lot of service. I had similar issues following the 1/48 Revell bf109 instructions, I painted it 3 times before it looked right!

BTW, you should be building more of these proppy things! :goodjob:

Martlett, Schmartlett.....to me its just a damned dirty feline ( a bloody wildcat), and a very fine looking damned dirty feline. Bexy, I'm starting to think maybe I should despise people who can 'airystick and get away with it :kissing2:

Gents,

Thank you for the kind comments, especially after the fight this one put up. Would I build this kit again if I had the chance? Yes, I would because its a lovely aircraft  I have a few more WW2 ProppyThingys in the stash, so I might dig them out and see what happens :yahoo: (as long as I remember to look at photos first :wicked: ) Got a couple of parafin burners to play with first, but, Ive got a B29 that needs building :yahoo:

I know you're disappointed that the invasion stripes didn't work out alright, but I think your Martlet still came out looking good.

Gregg,

Thank you for a very kind comment, yes, youre right, Im disappointed as I think she wouldve looked even better with them, but, considering this is my second 32nd scale ProppyThingy (and I buggered the first one up  ) I think theres potential for an even better effort in the future.
